This was one of the best hotels we stayed at. The service, the food, the room and the location were top notch! We booked the room with a private onsen and we loved it! The room was very comfortable and everything was new and in very good condition! We had breakfast and dinner included, which is highly recommended and necessary since there is nothing nearby to eat. The buffet offered a very good variety and a good mix between western and oriental food. Everything was very tasty and of very good quality! Regarding the facilities, we did not try the public onsen since we had the private one in the room but it was very comfortable and with water from real hot springs! The location is very good, you can easily access everything there is to do in Hakone! (It is necessary to book a transfer with the hotel itself to get there from the main train station, since it is somewhat complicated to get there by public transport)

Great location and charming accomodation and room. The onsens were some of the best I've ever used in Japan, the extra hot bath is especially great on a cold night. Staff were extremely helpful and showed me places worth visiting in Kusatsu. Would definitely stay again.

- the public bath on the rooftop and sauna was nice! - the vibe in the room is immaculate. The tatami is comfortable and clean, the ceilings are low (my bf of 6ft hit his head on the beam a few times, that’s how authentic this is) - the staff keeps the tatami clean and is diligent about changing our futon sheets daily - they change out the yukata daily, too - breakfast is simple and nice. It’s what I expect to eat if I do a homestay with a Japanese grandma.

Great place to stay ! You need the car to get there, but it is a lovely place. The room was big, confortfull, very clean with tatami big corner. the hot spring (Onsen) is amazing. Silence everywhere. Machines for food, drinks and ice cream. Very good place to visit Hakone and Lake Ashi.

This was close to the end of our two and half week Japan trip, and we had already been to many hotels and accommodations: If you are looking for ascetic Japanese inn, this is for you. You won't get much for basic fare, which for our trip was twice or thrice the normal price for a night, but if you are happy with a public bath, yukata and tatami mat with a futon on it, you are in for good times (we weren't).

A delightful ryokan - authentic and very cozy. Kimono, decoration, tatami, futon and onsen - everything is perfect. A few steps away from the H bus stop that will take you anywhere you want to go.

Rooms are very big and comfy, onsen is small but very nice to enjoy. Nikko is quiet and calm and so was this location. Breakfast included was the right choice because it‘s hard to find something to eat nearby especially in the morning. Ryokan is amazingly beautiful and futon was adequate.

What a wonderful opportunity to stay in a beautiful traditional Japanese inn. We loved the atmosphere and the history of this ryokan. The care and attention of all the staff was first class. We especially liked the evening meal, the onsen and the firefly tour.

Me and my friends stayed at this lovely ryokan for one night. We enjoyed our spacious room and the private and public Onsen hot springs of the hotel. The hotel is located in a nice central spot which is great for exploring Kusatsu Onsen. The food and services were good.

The atmosphere on the property was exceptional. The chance to experience authetic Japanese tatami rooms and onsen bath (there are 5 to choose from) is not something you encounter every day. Our room maid Ai-san was very kind, passionate about her job and took really good care of us during our whole stay. All yukatas, bedsheets etc were changed daily and there are daily neccesities free of charge in the room. The bus stop nearby is very convenient way to travel to Gora, Yunessun etc.

What a beautiful ryokan in a green oasis! The Japanese style room is very nice. We really had the authentic feeling of Japan. The staff were very friendly. We took the kaiseki dinner and I can only recommend it. What a joy to eat! We booked the private onsen which I would recommend too. During dinner they change the table for the futons to sleep. This was our favourite stay in Japan

It’s a little tired but authentic. Love the experience of traditional Ryokan. It’s so special when the staffs come and prepare a spread of dinner table in your tatami room and then after the dinner they turn the room into a bed room by bringing out Futon. The quality of Onsen water is fantastic. The staffs are very friendly and welcoming.
