We loved the mid-century modern decor, the service, the onsen, the parking, the location, our room, the gift shops, and our breakfasts!

Very helpful and attentive staff. The hotel is in a quiet location but still very close to the main shopping street. The onsen was very nice and clean. We love everything about it :D

The service is amazing, really. Great staff at the hotel. The breakfast was excellent, both the western as the japanese option. Location can not be better and the room is a great combination of traditional and modern. Would love to visit again.

We had stayed here eleven years ago & thought then that this was an excellent onsen. We returned here in part to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Dogo Kan improved their facilities even more to our liking. The room was very spacious & the beds comfortable. The furo were relaxing, the kaiseki dinner & breakfast were delicious and checking-in/out was without effort. I also liked that our fellow guests were respectful & well-behaved. We've stayed at other onsens, where guests (foreign) needed to reminded about speaking too loud in the furo.

Great onsen! It offers a spectacular view of the mountains and the city skyline. Be sure to try it at night and in the morning!

Everything! Our room was beautiful, clean, comfortable and spacious. Our host was delightful. The private bath was wonderful and our breakfast, delicious!

It combines the charm of a traditional ryokan with the amenities of a modern, more western style hotel. Excellent food and friendly, helpful staff, always ready to meet your needs. Add to that an outdoor, rooftop onsen and you have everything you need. Next door to the famous Dogo Onsen, a nice shopping arcade and bus and tram spots and its location can’t be beat.

The hot spring is very good, better than the traditional one nearby.

The futon was very comfortable and after nice oncen i slept like a baby. The food were delicious too. The facilities were great.

The room was amazing and the hotel was in a perfect location. All the staff were delightful at every encounter with them and so helpful when any questions did pop up. Would love to stay there again during any future stays in the area.

Beautiful tatami rooms, great roof-top onsen, excellent location. They provide yukata, outerwear and socks, as well as toiletries. The room has a private onsen. Quiet oasis in the middle of town.

Staff was great! My family and I are primarily english speaking so we used a lot of google translate to communicate with staff. They were very patient with us and helped us achieve what we wanted to do! I want to come back next time

A stunning property with incredible hospitality - warm, genuine, and highly professional. As is generally the case with smaller Japanese properties outside of the big cities, we did not have to contend with any language barriers. Brett Cox, a member of the staff, is a native English speaker. He made our stay exceptional. Kudos also to the chef for accommodating vegetarians, not an easy feat in Japan. Omotenashi has been perfected by the Setouchi Retreat. Well done.

The private onsen with sea view was amazing. The room itself was nice as well, it was a small tatami room and there's also a balcony next to the bath. We had dinner at the restaurant which was good and very reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and helpful. In the hallway and from outside it's visible that everything is a bit older already, but that didn't bother us, the room and bath are well maintained and renovated I assume.
