Self-Catering Accommodations in Shimo saga

Whole house was very spacious and welcoming, nice place for weary travelers to stay at after a long day. Host was very nice and left us welcome snacks at the table.

The hosts were super friendly, the food was delicious and the experience of staying in a traditional ryokan was incredible. The bonus of a private tour to the bamboo forest was unexpected and greatly appreciated!

My stay in Kyoto had a really relaxed, hostel-style vibe that made it easy to settle in. The place had a social, welcoming atmosphere—simple, clean, and perfect if you’re just looking for a comfortable base while exploring the city. One thing that stood out was how helpful the staff were. There was a lady there who went out of her way to help me when I needed directions. Instead of just explaining, she took the time to guide me and made sure I understood everything clearly. That kind of genuine kindness made a big difference in my experience. Overall, it felt less like just a place to sleep and more like a friendly environment where people actually care. Great option if you want something affordable, social, and welcoming in Kyoto.

Innovative Concept, Poorly Executed - Cute but touristy

Love how responsive the host was when we communicated. It was nice of her to inform us in advance that we could check in earlier. The house was so clean and cosy, we would definitely stay there if we visit again and highly recommend it to our friends!

The women working the desk were very helpful. I wish they understood more English. Masaru-san was most helpful and and knowledgeable. The location was most convenient: near Ranzan restaurant for breakfast. Close to Togetsukyo bridge, 4 train stations. The coffee choices were excellent and oishii. The pastries were the appropriate size and oishii.

The location of this inn was absolutely perfect - just a bit out of the crowded areas but within a 5 minute walk to the beautiful bridge, monkey park, shops and restaurants. The place was immaculately maintained and clean when we arrived. The train station was also very close, so you could use the local lines to get to key points leading to Osaka and Kyoto city for day trips. Bedrooms and bathrooms were properly equipped, as well as kitchen with all the cooking essentials.

The location is great place, surround with many attractions and few minutes walk away. The house was quite hidden, which make it great like a hidden gem. I love the decorations, designs, and layout of the tiny home. It was lovely. Definitely recommend, if you want a private place and get to enjoy peacefully.

Thank you for the welcoming and comfortable stay! The place had everything I needed and was looking for. The amenities were spot on and I especially love how quickly my clothes dried in the dryer room (also doubles as the shower). This place by far had my most favorite and most comfortable bed for rest and sleep in all of my Japan stays to date. I highly recommend this accomodation for anyone looking to spend a holiday in Arashiyama. You feel right at home when staying here. I enjoyed how close this location was to the Arashiyama train station, convenience stores, and picturesque prime locations in town. You can walk to so many different spots in Arashiyama very easily. One big plus is that it is VERY quiet in the surrounding areas that footsteps are louder than you think when you hear people outside walking on the street. Waking up from a nap and the morning from this spot gave some nice views of the mountain when there was no rain.

Where do I start? Rose was attentive, helpful, and prompt with her responses. She even helped us get checked in and heat running which saved me Google translate brain power. Having two toilets was clutch. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking breakfast and simple meals. It was spacious and clean. The location near Arashiyama bamboo forest let us go there after hours to avoid the crowds. My boys were over the crowds of central Kyoto so being out somewhere less crowded made our trip so much better. The location near the river was a perfect running path. Oh, and the floor heat was so cozy. Highly recommend this place for families and those wanting more space in a great location.

The convenience of being able to immerse ourselves in the beauty of the surroundings without spending excessive time on transportation was a major plus point. The amenities at Muji Arashiyama Villa were impressive. The beds were comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The rooms were equipped with modern conveniences, including a flat-screen TV, a mini-fridge, and a well-stocked kitchen. The attention to details and the overall cleanliness of the rooms truly added to the overall comfort of our stay. Furthermore, the staff at Muji Arashiyama Villa deserves immense praise for their exceptional service. The staff members were attentive, courteous, and always ready to assist with any request or query. Whether it was providing recommendations for local attractions or promptly addressing any concerns, their dedication to ensuring a memorable stay was evident.
