Self-Catering Accommodations in Haputale

Incredible hospitality, excellent food (the dinners we paid for were exceptional), spacious, comfortable, secure parking, and amazing view. It is a bit far from town (15-20 minutes by tuk tuk) but that is exactly what we were looking for. It made an excellent base for seeing the surrounding area.

The family are so friendly and attentive that you immediately feel part of the family. The location is slightly outside of town but the walk to and from town has quite an incredible scenery. Plus you get away from the busy area and can sit on your own balcony watching the sunrise or sunset - beautiful. The room has been newly renovated and is exceptionally clean with new bedding and pillows. The kettle in the room is an added bonus with plenty of teabags to satisfy you during your stay. The beds are extremely comfortable and big. The shower is very good and is hot with good pressure. Great for exploring the local area and we caught local buses to Lipton's seat, the Tea factory and Diyaluma Waterfalls. Dinner and Breakfast are offered by the hosts and we would suggest speaking with the host early into your stay to make arrangements. Tip - in Haputale go behind the Bus Stand and there is a minibus that takes locals all the way to Lipton's Estate. Leaves at 10:30 and comes back at 14:00 - 200 Rupees per person. To get to the waterfalls get Bus Number 322 to Wellawaya which stops on the road outside the homestay. Leaves Haputale at 07:30. 150 Rupees per person. From Diyaluma get any bus back to Beragala Junction and then transfer to any bus heading to Bandarawela or Haputale. This is a truly wonderful homestay and we would recommend it to everyone wishing to stay in Haputale. Quite beautiful and special.

Wow! I only have great things to say about this place. The clean, great location and hospitality of the room was incredible. The lovely lady, Kalai, who owns the property is incredibly sweet and humorous. I was the only guest staying here for 2 nights and she treated me as part of her family - even making me breakfast on the day I checked out. I 100% recommend this stay to any other traveller. You can also rent a scooter for a small fee to explore further outside of town.

Sameera and his family were fantastic hosts. If you get a chance to stay here, I highly recommend the room on the top floor, with its abundance of natural light and amazing views off of the huge balcony. The big heavy blankets were so nice to have up in that cold climate. The Room was well appointed, clean and comfortable, with its own little hot water heater, and coffee set up. The breakfast was excellent, and full of fresh fruit. I was the only guest staying there at the time, and Sameera hung out with me while I ate breakfast, and I was glad for the company. These are great people, maintaining a great accommodation and a great location. I love that it is away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Haputale, and very peaceful and quiet, with nothing to hear, but frogs, wind, rain, and birds. If I return to Haputale, I will definitely be staying with them again.

Just next to the alien waterfall... Only 50 meter walk... The Place is clean and the caretakers are very good... Value for the price....😁

An incredibly friendly hostess. Upon arrival, we received a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a welcome drink. She even took us up the hill on her scooter to climb the waterfall from there. She did everything she could to make our stay enjoyable! Lovely spacious house with a beautiful view over the mountains and a private swimming pool in front

The food and service was exceptional, well done team (Manager and cook who took care of our every need and request). The house was clean and in great condition. The stairs to the second floor can be steep for older folks but there is a bedroom on the ground floor with bathrooms as well.

A well maintained, clean and hygienic bungalow with ancient looking modern building. The owner cum care taker starting from the time of booking till the departure assures good service. The stay and food are reasonable priced. 3 rooms which can comfortably occupy 12 adults. Child friendly environment. Nice Garden. Very silent location with morning and evening bird chirps. Just 4 kms for Bandarawela town. All in all good place for stay.
