This motel is a charmer with amazing views of a beautiful beach cove. It has everything you need for a beautiful stay. There is an on-site restaurant that looked delicious, however we did not eat there. Sorry we bought takeaway. We would definitely stay there longer if we returned to the area.

This is an extremely unique and special property. It was the perfect place for our family to unwind at the end of the year. The outdoor spa was gorgeous and pizza oven fun. The kids loved playing on the lake. It is an absolutely beautiful setting that is very well looked after. Hamish is a friendly and welcoming host who explained everything for us and helped with local fishing and swimming tips. The living and bedrooms are cosy and very well appointed. I cannot reccommend this more highly for a wonderful family retreat unique to Aotearoa.

Ocean Dunes Retreat in Waipapakauri is an absolute gem! Just a short, scenic walk across the dunes takes you to the beach, and you can always hear the soothing sound of the ocean from the house. The sunsets here are breathtaking, and the property feels very remote and extremely private—ideal for families looking for peace and relaxation. The trees around the house are perfect for kids to climb and explore, and the home itself is cosy and welcoming. The new bathroom is beautiful, and the shower has incredible water pressure—definitely a standout! From the comfort of the house to the stunning surroundings, this retreat is highly recommended for anyone wanting a beachside getaway.

Excellent location for the drive to Cape Reinga. All the amenities you need for your trip. Kim was very friendly and helpful. Despite having been through a cyclone a few days before, the only noticeable effect was the pool. Kim and staff had done a great job cleaning up so you wouldn't even have known it had passed through. Thanks for a great stay.

This guest house provides a garden as well as barbecue facilities. There's free private parking, and the property offers a paid airport shuttle service.

Extremely friendly welcome. They were chatty in a good way and answered questions. Lovely swimming pool which was just right after a hot day travelling in the car.

Located in the center of Kaitaia Town, Kauri Lodge Motel is across the Kaitaia Information Center, and a 10-minute drive from the Kaitaia Airport.
