The Gateway Varkala was a very nice place to stay. Everything in the hotel, from the staff, service, and location was top notch. The grounds are large and kept impeccable with a nice swimming pool. The breakfast was very varied and enjoyable, and the staff at breakfast were very accommodating with any requests. My wife scheduled a massage in the spa, and she said it was amazing. Thank you Gateway Varkala!

Ambiance and location and food

We had a lovely time staying at this place (my mom was happy which is not always easy to achieve). We arrived just before the beginning of the main season and it was not as busy and loud around. We were staying in the room with a beautiful view of the sea which was nicely decorated, very spacious, provided everything we needed, including the AC, fan, fridge, etc., and it was cleaned daily. Gentleman at the reception was very patient with us and very helpful. He arranged a laundry service for us (not done inhouse, but very cheap) and for a car to drive us to the train station. There is also an excellent ayurveda massage place in the back garden (unrelated to the hotel). We felt here very well and while it is for us a bit on a pricy side, the value for money is great, especially with those views and beauty of the place.

This is a super homestay and we would highly recommend it. We are returning after a short trip away. The room is super comfortable with excellent ac and fan, really comfortable bed with a quilt and a little balcony. The bathroom is super clean and has hot water. A shared kitchen offers a great little free washing machine, free purified water and use of fridge ,freezer and cooking facilities. It is within short walking distance to the Cliff and the beaches. Kumar , our host is really helpful and accommodating. We found it to be much better than the photos show. It doesn't serve any meals, but one can make tea/ coffee light meals there and there are a range of good restaurants open all day nearby Recommend wholeheartedly.

Peaceful ambience, fantastic host, homely quality food.

Great location! Near all the restaurants and cafés in the beachfront. The cottage was big with a comfortable bed, sheets and pillow. AC and hot water works fine. Beautiful garden. Silent area.
