Innisfail is a lovely historic town with all the basic services you may need in a regional centre with a beautiful riverfront and the best seafood business and tablelands fresh produce
It is so sad it is inundated with the stench of illegal tobacco and marijuana and alcohol abuse with the associated social problems at night that business keepers have to clean up and turn a blind eye to
Bonus tip take the mourilyan harbour turnoff to a great local bakery just a few hundred metres from the highway

Paranella Park in Mena Creek is a wonderful place to visit.
Paranella Park in Mena Creek is a wonderful place to visit. Beautiful and fascinating. How a 'crazy' dream to build a castle came to be realised. Like Peter Pan's Neverland full of magical spots to gaze and imagine: a work of Art to wonder at. I loved wandering around, the plentiful fish and turtles in the creek, the birds singing and flitting around, the huge rainforest trees and the microbats in the Lover's Tunnel.
I was impressed by the generous ticketing inclusions - repeat visits for 2 years, a daytime guided tour and a nighttime music and light experience.

The lodge is magnificent and so is the setting.

Gardens are so beautiful but I wish we had met the owners earlier or had a garden map guide as apparently there is quite a few tropical fruit trees on site too and we would have loved to have seen them.
Some insect screens on some small windows would have been good so we could have natural air flow and hear the rainforest outside.
A seperate bathroom for the twin room would have been much better than sharing through our friends rooms.
The double rooms were Devine bathrooms too.

To add to flying fish review -we found it unpalatable. We booked for 5 nights but only stayed 2 due the fact there was no cafe at flying fish point although advertised. Also the staff were unavailable. Key was left with yard man as no one in office. Husband is disabled and it rained entire 2 days and when returning to cabin from car there was no mat inside to wipe feet on therefore floor was wet and hubby slipped over and injured himself so we returned home early. We are on age pensions and was trying to get hubby out of the house and it turned out to be hell.

To some it was quaint, but I’m afraid to us it was rather shabby. I could not stand the cigarette smoke that pervaded in and around the house. I had to ask if smoking could be avoided whilst we were eating our evening meal.

Innisfail, well worth a visit, Wouldn’t stay in a cabin again at Flying Fish Point, own Caravan a big yes. A beautiful little Deli in the Main Street of Innisfail. Lovely people and food delicious. Fish and Chips on the river, I recommend, in the little Van. The girls are lovely.

The views from our accommodation was spectacular and the bird and animal life was great. The setup of our room was good with the full kitchen, verandah to relax in along with the fans and air conditioners to keep up comfortable.
