Reading previous review, I was a little worried. But this place was clean, the staff were helpful, outbreak of bugs will occur when travelling the Camino, but these guys obviously tackled it and we had no issue. We had a twin in the attic area, and a family room on the ground. No sign of any visitors, everything was immaculate. Pool was perfect at the end of a hot day too!

Pension is right on the Camino. We had a private twin room that was clean and comfortable. There is a large communal kitchen. There is a washer and dryer, but i couldn’t find any where to hang my laundry. The back yard was huge with loungers and tables. There are a few restaurants and a grocery store near by, just be aware that if you are here on a Sunday, there is only 1 restaurant available and grocery store is closed.

Jessica who checked us in and waited on us for dinner was the absolute best. My bag which I had transported did not arrive. I attempted several times by both phone and messages to contact the transport driver. He declined my calls. Jessica helped by calling the company-spent over 30 minutes on the phone to locate my bag. I believe if she had not taken the effort I would not have been reunited with my bag. Big Thanks Jessica. You are the best

Santiago de Compostela Airport (SCQ) Information

Location and Transport

Located 8 miles (13 kilometres) from central Santiago de Compostela, in the town of Lavacolla, Santiago de Compostela Airport is northern Spain’s second-busiest airport. The best way to reach it is by the public bus service, which shuttles passengers between the airport and Plaza de Galicia in Santiago, making several stops along the way. The service departs every 30 minutes, 24 hours a day, and the journey takes roughly 30 minutes. The minimum taxi fare is EUR 22, with the trip taking around 25 minutes.

There are several hotels within 5 miles (3 kilometres) of the airport, with most offering shuttle services. For many, Santiago de Compostela is the final destination on the famous Camino de Santiago pilgrimage – so the airport is often filled with walkers waiting to board their flight back home after a long and incredible journey. Lavacolla is just a small village outside Santiago de Compostela airport. There is not much to see but it has a square and church. It's is slightly tucked away so much quieter than staying on main road. Fine location for staying one night.

Didn't find that there was much here - felt like it was...

Didn't find that there was much here - felt like it was designed just to exist as a stopover for Camino walkers. Getting around is easy as its just one miain street. My experience with restaurants was VERY disappointing (Cafetería Che 4 - didn't even eat what was served it was so bad and staff were terrible), but accommodation was fabulous (Pensión 9 de Abril - very comfortable and staff were amazing!).

Lucia was a gracious host.

Lucia was a gracious host. When we arrived exhausted from a day’s walking, she welcomed us with cold drinks and a relaxing smile. Check-in was a breeze, and we were taken to our comfortable room to recover for the afternoon. Lucia is an exceptional chef! The supper she prepared us was delicious and the breakfast was over the top gourmet. Maria was attentive and charming with her supper service. What a great oasis on the Camino Del Norte!

It is a great place to stay, they have comfortable beds, clean and well-stocked showers, the overall cleanliness of the place is great. The host is very kind and interacts with guests to make sure they are having a good stay.

The hotel was clean and comfortable but sorely lacking in...

The hotel was clean and comfortable but sorely lacking in surface space and towel hangers in the bathroom. The AC wasn't working and so we had to open the windows at night and the street noise was very loud. We felt the buffet breakfast was overpriced and not well staffed and the front desk staff was not particularly helpful or friendly.

This community is about 20km from Santiago de Compostela so...

This community is about 20km from Santiago de Compostela so is a logical last stop when walking a Camino. We have walked two Camino (Frances and Primitivo): again the restaurant options are poor. Stay somewhere else with more options or proven good food if possible. Also, there is little to see or do here (even the church was closed: on both visits!).

I wish we would of found this place sooner, I could not find...

I wish we would of found this place sooner, I could not find another flight to stay longer, I was so in love with this place, it was beautiful, I am even thinking of going back to Spain just so I can stay at this place, the food from the restaurant down the street was fantastic, the best I had my entire 3 weeks I was in Portugal and Spain. The tranquility of this place was breathtaking. I can't wait to go back.

Almost nothing - the town is ugly and we suffered food poisoning after eating at one of the two restaurants operating in the evening. Avoid the town like the plague although the Pension Vilanova where we stayed was lovely and we wished we'd just opted for the ready-meals available there. The owners/operators were lovely people.

Lavacolla is, I’m guessing, mainly used as a stop off before pilgrims continue their walk to Santiago. It’s also very close to the airport so useful for beginning and end of the Camino. The bar, A Concha, near the church and bandstand does good food!

Located 20k from the end of Camino Frances.

Located 20k from the end of Camino Frances. Theres A number of restaurants and accommodation providers. 3 atm machines - make sure to check the fees they range from €8.95 to free 0 per transaction. There’s really nothing else in the town to see. The town has two large supermarkets and a good fruit shop.
