The staff, parking in private garden, the upgrade given just for about +4 Euro so we got an apartment with a living room, a balcony, kitchenette and private bathroom with a window. Also the washing machine was made available to us and it worked with the help of staff.

Струга е прекрасно место за одмор. Градот има посебен шарм, со прекрасното истекување на реката Црн Дрим од Охридското Езеро, убаво шеталиште и пријатна атмосфера. Има многу ресторани и кафулиња со вкусна храна и одлична услуга, а плажите се чисти и погодни за релаксација. Луѓето се гостопримливи, а локацијата е идеална бидејќи лесно може да се посетат и Охрид и околните природни убавини. Одлична дестинација за семеен одмор или викенд-бегство. Со задоволство би ја посетиле повторно.

A Hidden Gem on Lake Ohrid!

A Hidden Gem on Lake Ohrid! My visit to Kalishta was brief, but it left a lasting impression. The highlight of the trip was definitely Hotel Biser, which offers a perfect combination of comfort, hospitality, and stunning views of Lake Ohrid. My favorite spots were the peaceful lakeshore, the beautiful promenade along the water, and the nearby Kalishta Monastery. The area is incredibly relaxing, with breathtaking scenery and plenty of opportunities to enjoy nature and take memorable photos. I enjoyed dining at Hotel Biser, where the food was fresh, delicious, and served with great hospitality. Having a meal while overlooking the lake made the experience even more special. Getting around Kališta is very easy. The village is small, walkable, and perfect for exploring at a relaxed pace. The lakeside paths and quiet streets make every walk enjoyable. The area offers plenty of enjoyable activities, including lakeside walks, visiting the monastery, swimming during the warmer months, photography, birdwatching, and simply relaxing by the water while taking in the beautiful views. It is an ideal destination for anyone looking to disconnect from the busy world and enjoy the tranquility of Lake Ohrid. Although this was only a quick stop, I was genuinely impressed by both Hotel Biser and the surrounding area. I will definitely be returning for a longer stay in the future.

Great town to spend a day and perhaps one night.

Great town to spend a day and perhaps one night. Fantastic lake and mountain views. Like stepping back in time. It's a way to visit the real Albania, with all its simple charms as well as flaws. Definitely not a fancy or Disneyland-type place. Has a few decent places for a lakefront meal or drink. Just walk around town to admire its authenticity and be sure to walk up to the rocky peninsula for the outstanding views (you'll likely see some sheep, donkeys and chickens long the way).

Struga sits at the head of Lake Ohrid - from what we could tell it's where N. Macedonians, Albanians etc go for a holiday while the town of Ohrid is where the foreigners go. We much preferred being amongst the local tourists - lovely restaurants and bars along the river and the lakeside, less pressure to "do" this part of the world. Pygmy cormorants and black-headed gulls swirling around. Great food and Marshal Tito Street's plethora of cafes. According to the internet, there's still a bus station in Struga. No, there isn't. If you want to travel elsewhere, you need to get down to the Eurolinea office on the waterfront. What's not to like about a town that has a Lady Diana Cocktail Bar right next to the Esco'Bar (royalty and drug barons in neighbourly proximity)?

No matter how many days you spend in Ohrid, it is never...

No matter how many days you spend in Ohrid, it is never enough; it is an incredible place that words cannot fully describe. You can truly feel a special energy here. The local people are a story of their own, they have preserved a soulfulness that Europeans lost long ago, making you feel as though you are returning to a time when people genuinely helped and valued one another. It is simply a holy place. There is no single, specific reason for this; it is just the entire experience of Ohrid; it is unique. When it comes to entertainment, you are never bored; there is so much to see and experience that even a month-long stay would feel too short. Ohrid is truly special.

The walk over the promontory was good, a little hilly but...

The walk over the promontory was good, a little hilly but fine for any reasonably fit person. Good to see the ruins of the monastery and the mosaic, follow the red and white stripes. Then through the green gate to the end of the promontory where there is an old pill box with views across the Lake Orhid. Hotel Leza stocks a wheat beer more to our taste if you like ale. Lin is a pretty village one of the oldest inhabited in Europe.

Ohrid is a truly beautiful destination.

Ohrid is a truly beautiful destination. The lake is stunning, the old town is full of history and charm, and the atmosphere is peaceful and welcoming. Walking along the promenade, exploring the historic streets, and enjoying the local restaurants made our stay unforgettable. It's a perfect place to relax while experiencing rich culture and breathtaking scenery. We would love to visit again!

Nice little village on the shore of Ohrid lake.

Nice little village on the shore of Ohrid lake. We stayed there 2 nights but we could have stayed 1 more night. There are some nice walks to do in the village. One along the coast and and another one uphill to reach a bunker dating from the communist regime. The place is convenient for those who need to catch a plane in Ohrid airport. Just make sure to leave in good time due to potential delays at the border between Albania and North Macedonia.
