Firkins Retreat is a very special place! Firstly Brad, the host, is incredibly generous and has been very responsive from the day we booked, 6 months prior to our stay! The retreat has a beautiful view of the city, is incredibly clean and consists of all the necessities and more!
A cool perk is that the cabin is a smart house, and all the usage information is easily found in a booklet that was created for guests!
There is parking available and it is also located within walking distance to cafes and attractions in Picton!

Even though it is 6yrs old, the flat is in as new condition & well equipped. Location is an easy 10 minute walk to the beautiful town. The flat is located just across from the back door of the Tavern. Very quiet at night. Plenty of parking for vehicles. The meals were fantastic. Owner George has the best personality & customer service.
We loved our 2 night stay.

Been many many times and love the place. Very peaceful off season, but plenty to see and do no matter what time of year. Decent supermarkets and plenty of places to eat. Variety of other shops and love the aquarium. Very calm swimming beaches always.

Arriving from Kaikōura and passing through Blenheim, we followed a stunning coastal road before crossing the rolling hills and vineyards of Marlborough, with breathtaking views along the way.
After a calm and pleasant drive, we reached Tuamarina and this charming historic home, which immediately conveys a deep sense of peace and serenity. Zach and Lucy welcomed us with genuine warmth and kindness, making us feel at home straight away.
Woodside was the perfect place to pause and recharge before continuing on to Nelson and exploring Tasman Bay and Golden Bay. A stay we would gladly recommend to anyone travelling through this beautiful region.

Stunning location in a lovely rural setting.
Stunning location in a lovely rural setting. Abundance of wild birds in a beautiful garden setting containg fruit orchards. A very relaxing B & B where the hosts have added so many little extra touches eg chocolates beside the bed, M&Ms, good selection of teas. There is a pub about 2 miles away which serves stunning renowned beef burgers.
Jill and Peter were wonderful hosts.
We would wholeheartedly recommend the Owls Rest!

I wanted to extend my stay, but someone else was booked in straight after me.
If you want something different to the usual motel or hotel with your own space, picturesque rolling green hills overlooking a vast field of beautiful vineyards, sitting on the deck overlooking it all while you sip away on a Sav as you wait for a nice steak to sear on the BBQ provided for your enjoyment, then this is for you

Lochmara Bay has so much to see and do and has beautiful scenery. Peaceful and quiet if you don't mind the odd speedboat or jetski.
Lochmara Lodge is a fantastic option for people stopping in from tramping on the Queen Charlotte Track or visiting by boat (20 mins from Picton) - the accommodation was excellent as was the food and activities on offer. They even take your bags boat to door and back! Activities include roaming the stunning gardens with unusual forest artwork, enjoying the wildlife in the forest and marine life from the viewing boat, feeding the animals, kayaking, swimming when warm enough, lying in the hammocks!!! Big shout out to the staff who work hard and are helpful and friendly.

The Portage was a lovely place to stay, the views were amazing and the staff extremely helpful. We were dissapointed about only 1 restaurant being open, and therefore not a large selection to choose from. We would recommend asking in advance, if they can make up a sharing platter, as this is not on the menu, and when we asked, they mentioned we should have ordered in advance. The beautiful view from the deck totally lends itself to drinking and grazing on a delicious platter. The kids loved the kayaks and paddle boards. We would recommend booking a transfer and taking a picnic to a secluded beach - we had a wonderful time.

Backpacker-type shared facilities, very nice kitchen/dining/lounge area in old historic Havelock house.
Handy to the pub and cafes, walks, the busy waterfront area, and not far from other Marlborough Sounds destinations

I loved the remoteness of where we stayed, yet the sense of being safe and looked after by the locals. The views and natural environment are sublime. The only permitted way to get here is currently by boat as the road has been damaged by a storm and is only allowed to be used by residents' and service vehicles. This makes it very safe to walk up the road to tracks into the wonderlands the area has to offer. The walks vary from fairly easy to somewhat taxing. Some of the tracks have a challenging gradient if you are not used to walking, and would be more difficult if they are wet. Having said that, we are 'senior citizens' with average fitness and we managed to summit the Onahau lookout (416 meters / 1368 feet) above sea level) and return in one piece.
