The best hostel I've ever stayed in! The host TRULY cares about his guests, organizes barbecues, keeps everything very clean and offers help at anytime. I stayed in the single bed room and would always do so again!

From arrival, Kishaba-san went out of his way to invite me to the local Kyuubon celebrations over the next few nights, and while there he introduced me to his family and a couple others. When I left to Naha and stayed at another hostel, I felt surprised by how much more comfortable and welcome I felt staying at Kishaba. Amenities are suitable, location is great, facilities are wonderful. The bed is comfortable, spacious, and private. Above all though, staying here made my trip to Ishigaki that much more memorable.

Very nice, spacious and clean apartment not far from city center. Great alternative to the big hotels on the island, much more private. Direct bus to the airport, line 10. We stayed as a couple and found it very roomy, it might feel more crowded if you stay with more than 4 people. Kitchen has the basic stuff, but there are many nice restaurants nearby and in town, so you don’t have to cook. The city center (the market) is about 10-15 minutes walk, the Port with the ferries to the other islands is 5 minutes more. We didn’t meet the owner/manager, everything was done online. Communication was prompt and clear.

The whole guesthouse was very clean and comfortable. The downstairs has tatami mats and tables for eating or hanging out and a comfortable hammock. The kitchen is really well equipped. The bathrooms have decent soap, shampoo, conditioner and are always clean. There is a washing machine home and a balcony to hang laundry (important to keep the your clothes and towels from getting smelly after the ocean. I was in the female shared room and the bed is spacious and comfortable hammock. The mattress is a bit on the thin side but it was fine for me. Parking available for a very small fee in the lot right in front of the house and an outdoor shower to rinse off the sand after the beach are very convenient. And most importantly, the family that runs the place is lovely and makes you feel very welcome. I will stay here again when I return to Ishigaki. Thank you!

I had a wonderful stay at Guesthouse Suntoru! The property is conveniently located right next to a bus stop that provides easy access to both the city and the airport (I recommend getting the 5-day, 2,000 JPY bus pass if you're not renting a car). The pension gives direct access to the mangrove for some relaxing kayaking, as well as the bay and waterfront for a nice sunset walk. It is close enough to the main city for scuba dive shops to pick you up directly (check with them first). Also, the owner and the manager are incredibly friendly and will always happily share local tips and insights. All in all, wonderful value and I would stay at Suntoru again.
