Beach Hotels in Funchal

The hotel was amazing. It made our trip. Very good value for money. Stop looking and book that hotel, you won't regret it.

The breakfast was excellent the indoor pool was good but I was really disappointed to be told that there was to be a aqua aerobic session and no body turned up and there was no explanation as to why

The guest house is in a quiet area with public parking space, a bit off the city center which we liked. Although it seems small, the house offers quite many rooms, yet it never seems crowded. Breakfast was really good (buffet with yogurt, fruits, eggs, bacon/pancakes/.., bread, croissants, tea, coffee, juice....) and available from 7.30-10.30. You could even have it on the sunny terrace with sea view. Our room + bathroom were not too big but everything was clean, hot water, soap available. Also there's a kettle and tea, coffee, water in the room. Beds are comfortable. Staff is very friendly (check-in outstanding!). There's also a little library room, where you can borrow books and chill on the couch. We didn't use the pool, but you could. The rooftop terrace with view over Funchal is also great for good weather days.

This hotel is great value for the money. Room made up every day; front desk is 24/7. Very pretty grounds with grass and trees. Pools are excellent—indoor and outdoor pools appear to be recently refurbished, both of them heated. Yes, you read correctly, the outdoor pool is heated! Unlike almost every other outdoor pool in Madeira, you can go in it in January/February. Indoor hot tub was clean and well maintained, though it could have been hotter. Sauna was also clean and well maintained and very hot. Kitchenette has a fridge, cooktop, pot, pan, kettle, silverware, dishes—enough to make grilled cheese sandwiches and soup. Shower had good pressure and temperature. TV has lots of channels including English language ones. Very good location—short walk to water, and the Forum shopping mall is across the street. Bar/lounge in lobby has live music almost every night. Yes, it is old and worn, but when taking the price into account, this is an excellent hotel. For those giving negative reviews, they should have stayed at one of the many very nice resort hotels in the area…for double the price.

Very good location, close to all nice restaurants and shops. Private parking on the site.10 min. walk to the beautiful beach promenade. Hotel is very clean and serve a good breakfast and dinner. Bonus - go to next building Dorisol Mimosa, it's the same property, 11 floor offers breathtaking panoramic view over Funchal Bay. We loved it and definitely will come back to this place again.

Beautiful traditional hotel very close to the old town and all its restaurants. A real Madeira experience that one can't get at all the characterless modern hotels. Superb facilities with two lovely pools and the ability to swim in the sea. Very friendly and helpful staff. Quiet at night - a real oasis- but within easy walking distance nightlife. A perfect place to stay.

We had an amazing stay at this apartment! It was clean and spacious. The location was perfect. Joana, was incredibly communicative and made the check-in process smooth. She was very accommodating throughout our stay. Overall, a fantastic experience!

Very specious and spotlessly clean. It has a well stocked kitchen area. It is on a quiet street in the old town with lots of restaurants nearby.

The hotel was close to many restaurants and shops! Very close to the beach…. The pool was nice. The breakfast was amazing. Lots of selections to choose from. My room had a sea view which was a plus! The staff were very helpful and accommodating! Great hotel to stay in!

The hotel has an exceptional location. Room is clean, spacious and cosy. The breakfast was full of choices. The offer of excursions is very nice. The absolutely pleasant and warm to my heart was the attention to me. The greetings before breakfast were so sincere and kind. And the birthday cake delivered to our room was an absolute tasty surprise. You touched my soul. Thank you!

The location is amazing. As soon as you step in the lobby, the fragrance and the vibrant ambiance of the hotel captures you. The staff is incredibly helpful. They answer your questions even before you arrive. When we were there, they helped out with most of the restaurant choices and excursion reservations. The outdoor dining area of Barcelo Funchal Oldtown is also the host to a live street concert on most of the lunch times. Around the corner, you can taste the best gelato on the island. If you go on a private cab tour around the island, make sure to ask for “Chico the driver” as your personal tour guide and yellow cab driver who speaks more than 3 languages and takes you around the history and contemporary status of the island through his vast knowledge. We will definitely book Barcelo Funchal Oldtown for our next visit to Madeira.

Everything was perfect. The hotel is near to the center. Parking garade is in the hotel. Perfect breakfast, great staff, sauna at the top of the hotel.

Great Hotel, very clean staff very helpful and friendly! Really loved the breakfast included, I would say this was the best part. Many breakfast options, nice patio for outdoor seating. Staff offered excursions which I thought was an exceptional bonus. My room included a balcony with a nice view of sunrise. Very close to shops and mall, walkable distance which was another plus. I would recommend 10/10

Amazing place and breakfast. Small gym, but there's another gym 1 min from the hotel. Easy for parking. ADULT ONLY! The whole world could be adult only in 16 years if people would love themselves and wouldn't waste their time raising other humans.

Staff were friendly and extremely professional, location was stunning, gardens were beautiful (we particularly appreciated the little garden map we got at turndown one night), loved that there were sunloungers everywhere

Excellent place to be. I hihgly recommend. They take care of you so well. we arrived late but they managed to save us some dinner even it was very much after dinner time.
