I love the location close to the Ruamahanga River. Our hosts allowed us a late check-out which gave me time to pop down to the river and catch a number of trout on the fly rod before our departure. We enjoyed walking around the garden, tasting some of the wines and learning more about recent vintages and characteristics the region for wines.

We had such a wonderful stay at The Summit Lodge. From the moment we arrived, Renee was warm, welcoming, and genuinely engaging — the kind of host who makes you feel instantly at home. The room and guest lounge were absolutely immaculate, with every detail thoughtfully cared for. The property itself is just as impressive — the yard is beautifully maintained and such a peaceful place. We truly enjoyed our time here and only wish we had planned to stay longer. Our return trip to New Zealand will definitely include another stay at The Summit Lodge.
