This is a stunningly beautiful old Japanese-style house a short walk from Tsurugi station. The architecture and decorations are amazing, and it seemed like every room had a great view of a garden. I really enjoyed my stay there, and appreciated the chance to experience a traditional home. The host is very sweet. Some things to note: * There's now a lock on the front door, so no need to carry your valuables with you or inform the host when leaving. * There are no chairs in the entire house. Be prepared to sit on cushions on the floor. * Baths aren't allowed, but the shower works fine. If the hot water isn't on, the controls are in the room with the sink and microwave, on the back wall by the towels. * I couldn't find any spoons; if you plan to eat food from the store, you might want to bring your own plates and utensils. * The bedroom next to the living room only has an overhead lamp. I had brought a nightlight, and found it extremely helpful in this situation. The flashlight on your phone would also work. If you can deal with the lack of chairs, I highly recommend staying here for a glimpse into Japanese history.

Kontani-san is the most caring host we met on our 3 week adventure in Japan and the house has an unforgettable character! He gave us plenty of local recommendations on where to eat and where to go (also created custom made itinerary for us) and was always open for our questions. Thanks to him we were able to get to know Japanese culture a little deeper. We had lovely tastings with him in the sake bar which is also located in the house and will never forget this stay!

Awesome location, nice size room for the money. Felt so private and cozy. Very close walk to the train and you'll pick up your keys at the station upon arrival. Very easy! Employees are really nice, you are in a small town so please be respectful and plan ahead. If you want to do the BBQ it is done by the host to plan accordingly when scheduling.

The hosts are incredibly kind. They were very understanding and went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay (help with late check in, restaurant reservations, etc.) Thank you for hosting us!

It was in to small town 30 train ride from downtown Kanazawa with incredible local chefs that cook with locally caught fresh fish some caught that morning , and the nicest small onsen that has and incredible natural spring and a great small cold bath , please share. Also incredibly kind hosts who truly made my stay so nice and extremely thoughtful.

The Japanese host was incredibly kind and welcoming. She was even willing to communicate through WhatsApp, so I updated her when we were at the airport and shared our live location — she kindly waited for us until night. The house had everything we needed — a washing machine, Wi-Fi, hangers, laundry detergent, body soap, shampoo, kitchen, plates, cups — so we only needed to buy fresh ingredients for cooking. The Lawson convenience store was just a short walk away, and we could also walk to the train station and the town center. If we didn’t feel like walking, there were buses and taxis available — very convenient! Staying there truly felt like living in a traditional Japanese home. The neighborhood was extremely clean and peaceful — it felt like a truly authentic Japanese experience.

It was a traditional Japanese house - the whole house, not a room in a house. Easily room for 5-6 people. There were 2 of us. Our host, Yumiko, was wonderfully attentive. She coordinated with us in advance, picked us up at the train station, and even dropped us off again at the end of our stay. She sent us a note the morning after our first night, just to check in.
