Cheap hotels in Thingeyjarsveit

Friendly staff, adequate rooms, comfortable temperature and beds. Nice breakfast and great staff. Rooms have a sink and shared bathrooms are very clean and comfortable. Restaurant has good food and good prices for Iceland.

We had a very pleasant stay at Guesthouse Hvítafell. The room was nice, with a comfortable bed that made for a good night’s sleep. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare our meals, which was very convenient. Although we didn’t use it, there’s a hot tub available for guests - a lovely option after a day of exploring. The location is excellent, just a short drive to Geosea, which was a must-visit for us and a real highlight of the area. Overall, a welcoming and practical place to stay while visiting this part of Iceland.

The location was remote, half an hour to a city, 15 mins to a tiny town with a convenience story vs. a grocery store. But that suited me well. I like remote locations. Very peaceful and quiet - incredible view of mountain, river and meadows around me. Farmhouse behind the guesthouses far enough back that never heard anything from them. Never met the staff but they were super fast responsive to any questions or changes I made via the Booking.com messaging app. Little perfect kitchenette, bathroom (private!) and bed all in one cosy but not too cramped guesthouse. No shared facilities which is rare in this price point of Iceland guesthouses. I will return to Buholl 1 Guesthouse!
