I stayed at the Berat Castle Hotel for one night with my family, and it was an unforgettable experience. The breakfast was absolutely incredible — without doubt the best breakfast I had during my entire trip. My family and I agreed it was the most delicious and authentic meal we’ve ever had in a hotel stay. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, and the cook did a fantastic job. The hotel has such a traditional charm, and everything from the hospitality to the food to the overall atmosphere felt genuinely special. This was truly a rich family experience, and I couldn’t have asked for anything better. I highly recommend Berat Castle Hotel for anyone visiting the area — it’s a perfect mix of tradition, great food, and warm hospitality.

I was really looking forward to my stay here cos of the reviews and photos I had seen. Our stay was marvellous. Our bus from Tirana stopped just few mins away on the main road so we didn't have much problem walking in with our trolley luggages. Staffs were helpful and approachable, providing me with a tea set when I requested. Room was cosy and nicely warm. Everything was clean and wifi was strong. The view from our balcony was superb and it was very peaceful sitting out enjoying the view. Breakfast was delicious with a couple of varieties provided at our preferred time. Just a few mins out from the guesthouse, you will find the stretch of shops and restaurants and a big supermarket. It's a nice walk through the boulevard. The other side of the road brings you to the hills and a great view. For the Muslims, there is a mosque very near the guesthouse. The bus stop which will bring you to the bus terminal is very near to the guesthouse. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had an excellent stay at Hotel Citadel in Berat. The hotel is brand new, and everything felt fresh, modern, and exceptionally well maintained. The interior design is beautiful, with great attention to detail, and everything is perfectly organized and in its place. The rooms were stunning, comfortable, and very welcoming. The mattress, pillows, and bed linens were of outstanding quality and gave me one of the best nights of sleep I have ever had in a hotel. The swimming pool is large, beautiful, and perfect for relaxing. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, with a great selection of fresh products and local specialties. The staff were kind, professional, and always ready to help. A special thank you goes to the manager, who was incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared about making sure we enjoyed every moment of our stay. I highly recommend Hotel Citadel to everyone, whether traveling with family, as a couple, or with friends. It offers comfort, quality, and exceptional hospitality. We will definitely be coming back!

It is very small town. 1000 windows is beautiful in the night. Garic bridge is lovely. Around it the water falls : IT is very tiny and we cant enjoy as the water is very very freezing and has lot of current. Canyon Was awesome. Enjoyed alot in the medicinal water.

I have been to Berat around 10 times.

I have been to Berat around 10 times. Like most of Albania it is not a place to rush around following an Ai master taking selfies. Many of the top restaurants are over used by foreigners due to the effects of influencers but Angelos traditional food offers great food in a no hassle place. Berat is famous for its Ottoman buildings but the history is older with another castle overlooking Gorica. The wine tours and rafting and trips to the Canyons are events that make this a good base for other activities. The guys at Visit Albania are more than local guides, they fix everything. Checking them out is highly recommended because it is where Albanian traditional hospitality and honour thrive Alket , Isuf and Igi are just some of a great team. Top people who are more like an advice shop than a tour operator. If you go to Berat and have just 1 full day you may not get it at all. Top hint go to the Castle early in the morning before it is hot but try more places than influencers who had 36 hours in this magical place.

We totally enjoyed our short stay in Berat.

We totally enjoyed our short stay in Berat. We explored both sides of the river and ate on the older side at Amalie's which I highly recommend. It was not an order off the menu place, but more where the menu is a pre-decided three courses of local food and everything tastes amazing. It was a fun way to get some local food culture. We have adult children and the three of them booked a three hour tour with ATV Berat - it was a bit of a challenge to find him (gas station on the old side of the river) but he was a great tour guide and gave the kids a lot of bang for their buck. We had planned to travel from Berat to Permet and although Google maps says it's possible, we have to say that as adventurous travelers we give it a no. At one point, what could loosely be called the road disappeared and we had to retreat all the way back to Berat and take the long loop out to the ocean and down. Ask locals if you are going to be daring as our experience, as well as the few other tourists we met up with out there, was that it got a little scary quick when roads became trails, the signal disappeared leaving you without anything to guide you, and no locals out there speak anything other than Albanian. We had hoped to see the waterfall and maybe some of the canyon views but never even got close when the road literally ran out. If you have a rental car, I'd think twice before attempting it even though there are so many cool spots listed out there. Our hosts in Permet said that we were wise to turn around.

Berat was one of the highlights of our trip to Albania.

Berat was one of the highlights of our trip to Albania. Staying inside Berat Castle made the experience even more special—it was beautiful to wander the cobbled streets, admire the incredible views and soak up the history, especially in the early morning and evening when it was quieter. Berati Castle Hotel was the perfect base for two nights. Our attic twin room was cosy and full of character, the shower was fantastic, and the traditional Albanian breakfast was delicious. The staff were genuinely the friendliest we met during our trip and made us feel incredibly welcome. There are plenty of lovely restaurants within the castle, so everything is within easy walking distance. Free parking is available inside the castle too. Driving up can feel a little strange at first because it seems like you're heading straight through the historic gates, but don't worry—you are allowed, and once you're there it's very convenient. We'd happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Berat

I loved Berat with its beautiful old buildings in the old sections (on both sides of the river). Be sure to leave plenty of time to visit the castle. Look for the guided Leonardo. He was born and still lives in the castle and everyone seem to know him. And give the accordion player a good tip. There are lots of steep streets to walk up, but so worth the effort.

Absolute gem of a small boutique hotel, Aleksander & Greta have renovated this old building right in the middle of the UNESCO area of Berat to a very high standard with incredible attention to detail. The small terrace for dining was just beautiful, specifically the views across town to the mountains beyond. Food excellent, mostly from their garden, cannot fault the place. Our kids loved the cats and dog!!!

Beautiful traditional Albanian home which has been converted into a hotel with four bedrooms. The restaurant at the hotel appears to be very popular with guests and locals alike which is always a good sign. The owners and staff were incredibly friendly and hospitable. I would highly recommend this hotel which is very close to the Gorica Bridge so in a great location for Berat.

The location of this boutique hotel is excellent! There is a private parking area nearby for only 600 Lek (€6) overnight, and from there you can easily explore the old town of Berat on foot. The room was decent and offered good value for money.
