A town full of history.

A town full of history. We enjoyed a stroll through the gardens, the talking tram, the Chinese museum and a stroll around the antique and collectable shops. The old buildings are beautiful and remind us of the history surrounding the township.

History lovers will enjoy exploring Bendigo's rich gold rush...

History lovers will enjoy exploring Bendigo's rich gold rush heritage, including the Central Deborah Gold Mine, Golden Dragon Museum, vintage talking trams and the city's magnificent historic architecture. The arts scene is equally impressive, with major exhibitions, theatre, ballet, symphony performances, live music, comedy and a vibrant calendar of events throughout the year. The city also has an excellent selection of cafés and restaurants, local wineries nearby, beautiful parks and gardens, and easy day trips to places such as Echuca's historic port, Kyabram Fauna Park and the Heathcote wine region. We were lucky enough to experience the electric light exhibition, which was absolutely magical and well worth seeing. Bendigo strikes a wonderful balance between a welcoming country town and a vibrant regional city. It's easy to get around, offers plenty to see and do over a long weekend, and leaves you wanting to come back again.

For some strange reason the room I was in on the first night the sensor on the ceiling started to have smoke coming out, very slowly…..it was a terrible smell, never smelt it before I put the fan on but the smoke slowly filled the room then the sensor light came on & didn’t go off…Also water started to drip out of the sensor ..So I went to the sitting room for the rest of the night on the lounge. My girlfriend was in a separate room. The next 2 nights we were moved two weeks were moved to different rooms. Also the car parking was not a good experience. It was just bad luck I guess…..thank you…….☹️

Bendigo has got character.

Bendigo has got character. All those historical buildings are well kept and still beautiful. There were so many eating places to choose from. I like the fact that there was a nice .cafe very close to the station. It would have been better if we had a car to explore Bendigo more.

Good design. Unfortunately TV wasn't working.

Good design. Unfortunately TV wasn't working. Friday and Saturday nights were very noisy due to a live music venue at the end of the street. As we are of the older brigade we do not like driving at night so we lunch out and stay in for dinner. No condiments or olive oil provided. No decent sharp knives. We enjoyed our stay but I don't know I would give glowing reports to relatives and friends. Had a wonderful lunch at Alium on Mother's Day.

We love staying at the Bendigo National Hotel. Though a warm March day, the pool felt a bit chilly to begin with, but proved very refreshing! Afterwards the spa was warming. We had extra pool towels from reception. Staff are helpful and friendly. Appreciate a tiled bathroom and all the usual cutlery, small fridge etc. It's handy having their dining room/bistro, good for coffee/tea and cake as well as meals. The location is excellent, easy to drive to Bendigo Pottery, Lake Weeroona etc. Quiet at night.

Great position, almost opposite the Information Centre, free 24 hour parking in multi-storey carpark. It's a magnificent old hotel, from a time when Bendigo was a wealthy place. Beautiful staircase, great breakfast and great menu, marble-tiled bathroom, really comfy bed.

The location of the hotel was suitable to visit places for the visit to Bendigo. Bit unusual not having a reception area. Room size was ok. Bed was a bit lumpy. Mattress marked my body. No water or other drinks in the fridge. No glasses to use. Towels were plentiful.
