Can't wait to go back! The rooms were lovely, beds comfortable and staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Was nice being a little way out of town so we could enjoy the peace and quiet. The spa in our room was divine - looking out over the incredible landscape whilst relaxing with a glass of wine. Perfect stay!

We stayed in one of their beautiful cottages next door and we all 100% happy. Very spacious, separate from other guests, with private sheltered car park. Our cottage was a three bedroom, beds were firm but very comfortable, we all had a really good nights sleep. A very quick walk to center of town, maybe 3mins. You may hear a bit of traffic or the odd train through the day if your front door is open, but by 21:00-08:30 all is dead quite. This is our new favorite place to stay in Broken Hill, you we not be disappointed.

The Astra is very conveniently located (although we arrived by air, we departed by train). The hospitality was exceptional. We enjoyed meals in the restaurant, the cafe and had delicious pizza from the pizza restaurant. We also had drinks in the bar while. We even had one lunch on the balcony outside our room. A real highlight was the friendly and helpful team at The Astra - from the restaurant manager who helped us with our bags on arrival, to the charming person in the bar who remembered our order from 2 days earlier (and apologised when the gin was different!) to the housekeeping person who was always friendly and helpful (and who did a great job). The team at The Astra are great.

Such a fantastic place to stay in Broken Hill. Even after reading all of the happy reviews, we were still amazed by how lovely the house was and how generous the hospitality shown by the host. Anything anyone could want for a comfortable stay was provided, there's been so much love and thought put into creating a sense of home here and the house has so much character. Good beds and linen, a strong hot shower, splendidly equipped kitchen, fast wifi, great heating and every modern convenience. Spacious rooms, so quiet at night. And the treats left out for us went well above and beyond what we could have expected. We appreciated everything about this place, were sad to leave and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Nice town - past its prime as a mining boom town of course.

Nice town - past its prime as a mining boom town of course. Impressive old buildings and impressive mine site and view from the top of the mine - tourist and memorial. We walked the Argent street loop and ate at the pubs; food was great and good value. We drove to Silverton for the day which was a highlight as well.

Interesting old mining town, full of history and great friendly people. Nice simple lifestyle and great town. Easy to get around and see the sights but make sure you do not travel into town towards dusk or at night ,there are lots of animals on the road on the Barrier Highway.

Good food at the Clubs and very much so at the Alfresco Cafe. Loved a morning at historic Silverton, walking around the town. The Miner's Memorial is very interesting and well worth a visit. Many historic buildings in the Centre area and fascinating architecture in the array of normal housing in the town. Need a car as it is very hilly and quite a big town. I would say about 3 full days to explore the town and Silverton is sufficient.

The property is about two or three blocks from the main street of Broken Hill, The town is very spread out and its a fair walk to get to any of the cafes, restaurants, pubs, clubs etc. We had a hire car so that was not so much of a problem, the Motel had a good car park.
