A very old hotel, but very clean, comfy beds, warm shower, coffee facilities, microwave, air con. Large room. Queen bed and single. Under $110. 2 days notice, also the location is locked up after the pub shuts, can only open from inside. Nice and safe for you, your vehicle and your belongings. Walking distance to the town centre and foreshore. I have stayed a number of times and will keep returning.

What Guests Said About Carnarvon:

Very limited in choice of restaurants.

Very limited in choice of restaurants. Noted the people walking around the town may not have walking for health reasons. As visitor I did not feel secure in the evening. When we return in a few days we look forward to visiting the Space Museum.

Since the 1 Mile Jetty was destroyed the town has lost one of it's major attractions. Positives include great fishing from boats, the new museums at the remains of the jetty, the fascine waterfront area in town, a few great coffee shops and bakeries, and the space tracking station experience just out of town. Negative is the issue with safety/damage to property - there is unfortunately a problem with juvenile behaviour in town (which the police are definitely trying to control!)

1-2nights is adequate in Carnarvon.

1-2nights is adequate in Carnarvon. If in the area make sure you make time for the Quobba Blowholes. These are a must. It is 70km north of Carnarvon so can be done on your way to Coral Bay. The food loop along the river is great for picking up reasonably priced fresh produce. Also whilst the one mile jetty is being restored, the historic precinct is worth a look.

VERY NICE TOWN AND CLEAN.

VERY NICE TOWN AND CLEAN. THE AREA AROUND THE MOUTH OF THE GASCOYNE RIVER IN TOWN IS WELL KEPT AND REGULARY USED. A GREAT CHOICE OF PLACES TO STAY AND EATING. THE FISH AND CHIP CARAVAN IN THE MAIN STREET DOES GREAT FOOD. A FEW CHOICES FOR PIZZA BUT THE BEST IS THE ONE IN THE OLD POST OFFICE IN THE MAIN STREET OPPOSITE THE FISH AND CHIPPY POP UP. A GREAT TOWN TO STAY AND DO DAY TRIPS TO SITES AROUND CARNARVON. NOT SURE WHY THE BANNANA GROWERS DONT HAVE A POP UP IN TOWN AND THE ONES WITH A SHOP AT THE FRONT OF THERE PROPERTIES USUALLY RUN OUT OF BANNANAS.

Carnarvon Gateway Motel My experience was appalling,...

Carnarvon Gateway Motel My experience was appalling, distressing, and far below acceptable health and safety standards. Upon checking in, I was assigned a room that was infested with cockroaches, visibly dirty, and contained someone else’s clothing from a previous guest. When I called the motel owner to report this, I was met with rudeness and indifference. She told me to “squish them and deal with it,” despite me explaining that I had already killed several cockroaches and could see more crawling along the walls while on the phone with her. When I asked what could be done, she replied, “What do you want me to do about it?” and then hung up on me. At this point, I was extremely upset and prepared to sleep in my car, as every other accommodation in Carnarvon was fully booked. Approximately 40 minutes later, a staff member knocked on my door and apologised for the situation. He inspected the room, confirmed the infestation, and began searching for an alternative room with me. Over the next two hours (from 11:00 PM until around 1:00 AM), we inspected approximately 30 different rooms, all of which were infested with cockroaches, filthy, and in disrepair. Many rooms had heavy dust build-up, mould in the bathrooms, ripped bedding, and visible spider webs. One even had a frog inside. The overall state of the motel was disgraceful and unsanitary. Eventually, I was placed in a room that the staff member admitted was “blocked off” because it did not have a working fire alarm—a major safety violation. While this room also had cobwebs and a noticeable odour, it was the cleanest available, and I was completely exhausted from hours of searching. This entire ordeal left me distressed, exhausted, and disgusted. The conditions at Carnarvon Gateway Motel present clear health, hygiene, and safety risks, and the owner’s dismissive and unprofessional response was unacceptable.

We drove through the night and arrived in Carnarvon a lot earlier than expected. We phoned to see what the earliest possible time is to check in, our room was just being cleaned at the time so they said "come on through within the hour" the staff were so easy to deal with and our room was great!

Great location. Benchmark motel for Carnarvon. Great room, good restaurant- the seafood chowder is excellent- and close to town and the river. The best in Carnarvon for the price. Good for overnight, plenty of space to park your caravan and also good for a longer term stay.

I have stayed at the Carnarvon Motel on several occasions now. It is always clean and comfortable. The staff are lovely and because the gate is locked at nighttime, I feel my car is very secure.
