Check in was a breeze and the friendly front desk staff gave me a beautiful room on a high floor with a fantastic view! The location was great - close to plenty of restaurants and local tourist activities. Every morning, the plentiful, complimentary continental breakfast buffet, with lots of fresh fruit and juices coffee, tea, a delicious assortment of pastries, hard boiled eggs, toast, jams and jellies, cereal etc. were available. The hotel is very clean and everything in my room worked properly. I highly recommend Oaks Darwin to anyone staying there.

FAQs about hotels in Darwin

Australia's Cyclonic Cocktail

Darwin displays a cocktail of cultures from ‘Aussie larrikins’ to the local Aboriginals from Larrakia Country. Throw in an influx of international visitors who now call the Top End of Australia home, and this concoction bedazzles with busy outdoor markets and an adequate supply of drinking holes (pubs).

The modern Darwin Wharf precinct, including Stokes Hill Wharf, still gleams on those endless summer days having been rebuilt after the destruction caused both during World War II bombings and Cyclone Tracey. Grab a bar stool with a view of the harbour or a seat on a terrace and sip a cool drink in Australia’s northernmost, tropical capital city.

A popular time for tourists is Darwin’s dry season that starts in May and ends in October. If you prefer it hot and humid, then the end of the wet season can be spectacular when the waterfalls in Kakadu and Litchfield national parks are at their mightiest.

Australia’s wild frontier can be reached all the way from Adelaide and Alice Springs along the picturesque Stuart Highway that ends at Daly Street in the CBD. Outside the centre are the natural surrounds in Palmerston, Humpty Doo and closer by is Mindil Beach with its famous Sunset Market.

Darwin International Airport has international flights from Singapore and Bali. You can choose from a variety of hotels, hostels and apartments on Booking.com.

Love Darwin.

Love Darwin. The waterfront is wonderful - very family friendly with swimming facilities and an inflatable play centre on the water. Lots of good restaurants. Botanical gardens is well worth a visit. If you think you will need a car make sure you book before you go - there were none available when we were there. However that did make us go on a couple of tours which were wonderful.

We loved the waterfront precinct.

We loved the waterfront precinct. Great for food, drinks and atmosphere. Would recommend the Cape Adieu dinner cruise and the Litchfield park with croc jumping tour- Damo the tour guide is such a local character with a wealth of knowledge. By far the best and most memorable experience was going into the pond in the cage of death with Daly the croc at the Crocoseum and the behind the scenes tour - just AWESOME!!!

A delightful city with great weather in winter with so many facilities for tourists. I used Uber and Beam scooters to get around the attractions as well as a couple of buses. There are many places to visit and in particular Mindil Beach markets and the Pitch Black air display. Also the 1934 Qantas Hangar museum at Parap, the Aviation museum at Winnellie and the Royal Flying Doctor display on Stokes Hill Wharf. I was also lucky to catch the Darwin Show at Winnellie which far exceeded my expectations for things to see and do.

beautiful warm weather, such a change from the southern states in winter. Had previously done Adelaide River and Litchfield but they are a must along with Mindal Market. A lot of history concerning ww2. and the bombing of Darwin. Second visit but enjoyed just having dinner on the balcony in 27 deg balmy nights and watching the fighter jets who were in Darwin for manoeuvres.

Most of all we enjoyed the July weather in Darwin.

Most of all we enjoyed the July weather in Darwin. It is so nice that we can have summer weather in winter in Australia. There are quite a number of attractions to see in Darwin. We enjoyed the crocodile park with the jumping-crocodile boat ride. The aqua scene with the fish was well worth attending. There was such a variety of fish with a detailed live commentary about them. The royal flying doctor museum on the wharf is very informative. The lunch-time harbour cruise was special - good view of Darwin city and beaches as well as the catering superb. Our hire car made it so easy to get around.

Lovely hotel, modern spacious room with private balcony, very clean, hot shower with good pressure, wonderful staff, amenities in room. Great value as it includes a generous continental breakfast (cereals, toast, yoghurt, fruit salad, coffee, teas, juices). Beautiful peaceful and private pool. Short walk to grocery store (Woolworths), easy walk to nearby shops and cafes. About a 20 min easy walk to Darwin waterfront precinct. Highly recommended.

1. Location!! The apartment has excellent views of Darwin Waterfront and Harbour- we were lucky to witness all the Christmas festivities and light shows from our wide balcony. And, its a quick trip to the lift and down to join in on the action, restaurants and park on the doorstep. 2. Modern, comfortable, clean, spacious apartment is what our family of 7 needs ( 2 kids, 5 adults)
