Just a small country town but is quiet beautiful, has a lovely silo art, a little wildlife sanctuary right next to the public toilets and play park, has a couple of eateries and an IGA. We didn’t eat anywhere as we arrived late but it’s was also Boxing Day (Public Holiday) and most nearly all places were closed.

The point for us is that Kaniva is 3 hours from home (4 hrs...

The point for us is that Kaniva is 3 hours from home (4 hrs from Adelaide.) For us it's a preferred "halfway" from Melbourne, rather than Horsham which we've also tried. (We were coming from Warrigal). Town is small but Commercial Hotel does good pub meals.

Fantastic, character filled town with green spaces and...

Fantastic, character filled town with green spaces and really well preserved buildings. Located about half way between Adelaide and Geelong made it a great stopping location. We had choices for dinners and a beautiful sunset to view. The Commercial Hotel is lots of fun.

We absolutely loved the hospitality and friendly atmosphere...

We absolutely loved the hospitality and friendly atmosphere in Kaniva. The locals were very helpful and accommodating. If you love a small town vibe away from the hustle then it's for you. No bells and whistles but a great stop over. We went to the Club Hotel for a few drinks and a meal, everything was outstanding. Definitely would stop here again while travelling. And would definitely stay at The Midway Motel again.

The website shows nice, neat tidy rooms. I booked a family room plus pet friendly room. What we got was a room out the back of the property next to the laundry that was carpeted, musty, and in need of repair. And old air-conditioning unit held together by silver duct tape. Plus I was charged an additional $40 for my dog (small cavoodle). We booked for one night.... stayed for 2 hours then decided to continue the drive to our destination. An expensive 2 hr stay....

nice town. good for a couple of hours visit only. art silo...

nice town. good for a couple of hours visit only. art silo very nice. painted sheep good fun. there is a wetlands and wildlife park that is worth walking past. not many dining options in covid times. pub not interested to feed visitors.
