You feel like you are in pastoral Australiana at this property, even though it's a 15-20 minute drive to Mount Barker, Strathalbyn and the Langhorne Creek wine region. Barrie was an excellent host, providing beautiful, nutritional and filling breakfasts and lots of helpful information about the surrounding area, things to do, places to eat etc. Meeting Barrie's "girls" (Jersey cows) and feeding them potatoes was a highlight of this experience. The second bedroom had everything that was needed for a comfortable short stay, including a small fridge, bathroom, kettle and noodle snacks! Barrie has several seating areas in his beautiful front yard where you can watch the sun set and rise, and listen to and observe the many, many different bird species living and thriving in the surroundings.

Strath Motel located in the town of Strathalbyn, a 10-minute drive from Courthouse Museum and the Strathalbyn Golf Club. It offers free parking on site.

Spacious and spotlessly clean rooms with more than adequate facilities. Apart from the convenient onsite parking there's adequate street parking for oversized vehicles. Easy to navigate access for contactless after-hours check in and check out.

Rainshadow Retreat definitely exceeded our expectations. The property was comfortable and cosy, and gave a feeling of serenity that you aren't going to get at a motel. All amenities were provided and the outside chimenea and bath were an excellent touch. Location is tucked out of the way enough to feel like a little sanctuary, but still close enough to towns and touristy hubs. Starlink was a nice bonus.

Right in front of the vineyard with privacy between cabins. Fire pit isn't for bonfire but find yourself a branch near the trees to enjoy cooking marshmallows while you see the stars. Won't see sunrise but Sunset was spectacular! Simple cooking only and bathroom light didn't work but overall fantastic getaway spot. 10min drive to servo, restaurants and Cole's.
