Wonderful host! He you have the upper apartment to yourself. There is an amazing bakery right next door and Aldi a block away. It was a wonderful stop on our road trip by Brugge. You might need help trying to work the Washing machine - it was not like the ones in the US. Wonderful stay comfortable and clean with all the things you need in kitchen and in every room. My kids liked playing in the backyard

The owners are a very friendly and nice couple. The bed was very cosy, the cleanliness was excellent and the breakfast was of 5-star standard! You can book a small sauna on the terrace and there is a decent sized pool! As a guest, you can easily get the impression that you are in a small spa and not in a private bed & breakfast accommodation.

There's not a lot in Torhout.

There's not a lot in Torhout. A few cafes, fewer local shops. Easy to walk around the centre. Feels quiet and small, and close to the countryside. Tourist info in the main old building has a booklet in Flemish, still informative on plenty of places to visit if you have a car. Reliable albeit hourly bus service out to the two local castles (in opposite directions). Didn't notice many places to eat out, but there's a good sized supermarket and nice bakery 10mins walk out of the centre if you're self catering.

When visiting the town, it's important to note that on Sundays, most establishments are closed. Therefore, it's advisable to ensure you have all the necessities from the store before then. Despite this, the local residents in the town are exceptionally friendly and nice, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Regarding dining options, there are limited choices available if you don't consume beef. However, we discovered an absolute gem called Chens Garden. We had the pleasure of dining there and were delighted to find it to be the best Chinese restaurant we have encountered in years. Sun, our waiter, provided outstanding service, demonstrating accommodation, helpfulness, and kindness. We highly recommend dining at Chens Garden. You can find more information about them at http://www.chensgardentorhout.be/. During our visit, we took a drive to Ostend and had lunch there. It was a straightforward journey, and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the town. We particularly admired the beautiful church and had a pleasant time walking around the port area. Staying outside of the tourist hub provided a unique and enjoyable experience. Overall, despite the limited dining options for non-beef eaters and the Sunday closures, our visit to the town was made memorable by the friendly locals and the exceptional dining experience at Chens Garden. Exploring Ostend added another layer of enjoyment, with its stunning church and picturesque port. We recommend venturing beyond the tourist areas to truly appreciate the town's charm.

Family-run small hotel with brasserie. Staff were super friendly and professional. I overslept and missed breakfast by an hour. However, it was no problem for them to still prepare something hot for me. Room was comfortable with all mod cons. Slept like a log. Food in brasserie was good and reasonably priced. Hotel is central with a nearby public car park. The town is very small but has a pleasant and lively vibe (I was there 4 days before Christmas). I'd like to come back again in summer.

Conveniently located on the Markt of Torhout, hotel brasserie De Beiaard is a pleasant, budget-friendly accommodation with clean rooms and a tasty breakfast. There’s also a cosy tearoom and restaurant with terrace overlooking the quiet market square. Hosts Johan and Chantal are a wonderful husband and wife team who will make you feel at home.

Beautiful spacious house in a nice quiet neighborhood. The breakfast is generous, worth any 5-star hotel. We were well informed. The swimming pool is a nice addition.
