My stay at the Miramar Hotel was nothing short of spectacular. From the breathtaking views and lush surroundings to the impeccably clean rooms, the property is a true paradise. What truly elevated our trip, however, was the outstanding customer service. Manuel Antonio is undeniably beautiful, but be prepared —...

Manuel Antonio is undeniably beautiful, but be prepared — the national park is extremely crowded, and that crowds saps much of the charm from the experience. It reminded us of watching African wildlife safaris where so many vehicles surround the animals that the moment feels suffocating rather than magical. The same applies here — you are rarely alone with any wildlife sighting, as other park visitors quickly converge from every direction. Our strong recommendation is to hire a guide, either private or in a small group. A good guide makes all the difference in spotting wildlife and understanding what you are seeing. Our guided park tour with Jade Tours was excellent — knowledgeable, professional, and worth every penny. The night mangrove tour, also with Jade Tours, was not exactly off the hook but absolutely worth doing for the unique perspective it offers after dark. The undisputed highlight of our Manuel Antonio experience was a day sail aboard the Brisa Elegante, a stunning wooden tall ship. We were among only three guests, which made it an intimate and extraordinary experience — fantastic crew, breathtaking scenery, and the thrill of spotting blue-footed boobies on the water. The lunch onboard was fantastic and the drinks kept coming. We give it a perfect 10 without hesitation. Do not miss this. Two stops in town are worth noting. Café Milagro Coffee Roasters is a must for any coffee lover — outstanding quality and a wonderful atmosphere. And Faxas House of Cigars is a gem of a find, well worth a visit for cigar enthusiasts and curious travelers alike. Manuel Antonio rewards those who plan carefully. Go early, hire a guide, book the Brisa Elegante, and save room for coffee and cigars.

Flew into San Jose 3 pm, customer took 1 1/2 hrs to get through-shuttled to Hotel and William the Host on What's App helped us the whole trip. Hotel on a hill, lots of stairs and up hill walks to restraints, loved it! Not very hard to get around on Uber to the beach, restraints. Room was perfect, had kitchen w/all the cooking gear, even a rice steamer in the room! Pool was perfect, Jacuzzi is same temp as pool. Will go back again for sure. We love William the host, he went above and beyond. William booked us a Catamaran Excursion and saved us $$ with shuttle pick up also. Le Terrazzo Restaurant opened 6:30 am AMAZING BREAKFAST WITH A VIEW!! Just walk up hill to restaurant 5 min walk. Ordered Dinner takeout ! Manuel Antonio National park was AMAZING, Uber pick us us only $10.00 ride one way for 2 people super cheap. Uber takes you everywhere, $5.00 for 2 people down to beach, yes we could have walked the 1/4 mile, but I'm old and have bad knees lol.

So many outdoor activities!

So many outdoor activities! My favorites included a guided tour through the park, morning run on the beach, restaurants with amazing views, a relaxing morning Spa day, sunset catamaran cruise where you can snorkel and swim around in the ocean, the list can go on! Really a beautiful part of Costa Rica that I would highly recommend. Very hilly to get around but a 4x4 isn't needed. Overall, a great experience down there!

Paid parking is available near the park.

Paid parking is available near the park. Most people seem to arrive by busses that circulate the areas. Best things I can share: 1. Get a guide 2. Do the other trails 3. Prep for swimming 1. Get a guide: yes you can guide yourself through this park, but the guides are trained to spot wildlife so you have a better chance at seeing cooler things with an expert around. It is also much better seeing these animals through the guides' telescopes. 2. The guides only walk you through the main trail. The coolest wildlife I saw was out on the branch out trails. If you want cooler sights and more nature opt for a trail after your guide drops you off at the beach. 3. One of the best parts of this park are the two distinct beaches located right inside. Bring your swimming gear! *bonus: pack a reusable water bottle. Plastic is not allowed in the park. Water stations are available throughout. Overall a great experience. There is a small cafe inside of the park where you can get food and souvenirs. There is also a shower/changing area near the beach.

Manuel Antonio is great if you have a car.

Manuel Antonio is great if you have a car. It’s not really a town but more a series of restaurants and hotels along a road ending at the park. The beach is relatively quiet and very nice warm blue water. The people are helpful, considerate, and kind. The only place I would avoid is the shop next to Joseth on the strip. I bought a shirt from the lady and she tried to short change me. We’ve been in Costa Rica for 13 days and she’s the only person I’ve caught trying to do that. The park is phenomenal, in a short two hour tour we saw so much wildlife. I don’t think we ever took more than ten steps before the guide spotted another interesting animal. Sloths, monkeys, snakes, coati, the list goes on. Marlin is a fantastic spot for lunch, very good food. Buru was amazing for breakfast (try the omelette sandwich). The catamaran tour was so fun, slides on the boat, dolphins playing alongside the boat. Very memorable experiences all around. If I had one thing to do differently it would be the hotel, I’d stay at the hotel in the park grounds vs staying at Karahe.

3 days is about right for Manuel Antonio. Unfortunately snorkeling is not very good. I've heard that the snorkeling on the Caribbean side is better. I recommend visiting at least 3 areas of CR during a 10-12 day trip.

The location is great - perfect for the beaches and national park. A lot of restaurants in the vicinity. Arnoldo was very friendly and looked after us well. We booked the Manuel Antonio park tour available through the hotel and found it to be the best one we’ve done so far in Costa Rica. The room was a great size and the bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on. The pool was also really nice and a great view point to see birds and monkeys around.

We picked this hotel because of the (relatively easy) walk to the beach, and that worked out perfectly. The pool was also great for our kids, and it was awesome to be able to order food from the restaurant to eat poolside. Our room was amazing ... two huge king beds with a jungle view, and great AC! Breakfast was a buffet with lots of options ... not the best we had in Costa Rica, but pretty good and very convenient.
