I booked a night's stay at the hotel and owing to the prompt and effective communication with the owner, Mr. Ahmed, I ended up arranging a 2-day trip from Cairo (and back) to visit the White Desert and Bahariya Oasis with pitstops at Black mountain, Crystal mountain and the lake at Bahariya. The trip was very well arranged as the car, the driver and the experiences exceeded my expectations. Farafra is far and remote but we felt very safe at the hotel and staying close to the desert meant that we got more time to witness the magnificent beauty of the desert without camping or taking a long drive back to Bahariya/Bawiti after dark. The hotel itself was clean and very suitable for a night's stay. The staff was considerate to prepare food as per our dietary preferences. Overall, if one has time for a long drive from Cairo, I recommend arranging the stay and the trip with Rahala Safari Hotel to enjoy the wonders of the white desert.

For me, Farafra is the authentic Egypt.

For me, Farafra is the authentic Egypt. Here you experience real Bedouin and oasis life, far away from mass tourism and staged tourist attractions. The warm and welcoming people, the deep sense of peace, the Badr Museum, the White Desert Museum, the historic fortress, the beautiful oasis gardens and the natural hot springs make Farafra a place you don't just visit – you truly experience it. A genuine hidden gem.

The stay here was everything I wanted.

The stay here was everything I wanted. The facilities were clean and everything worked, the staff were very attentive, and we were left alone to do what we wanted when we wanted it. We just wanted to wander into the desert and enjoy the atmosphere. The staff would have organised daytrips and guides if we wanted to. There was a lot of food, more than we could eat and very well prepared.
