We liked that it was complete and spacious. And it is also a tranquil place. We had a beautiful circular walking route to Benadalid. This is a good idea if you like to see the surroundings.

The Fructuosa is so beautiful and full of charm. The house exudes history, and the staff care for it wonderfully--and they care for you wonderfully as well. The room was spacious and well lit with warm lights, and the bed was perfect. The breakfast is a delight, not only for the delicious food but for the people you might meet there in the cozy dining room. Since Gaucín is not only a very old Spanish village but a place at the frontier of the interior and coastal Spain, it draws people from many parts of the world. We met a Swiss German couple who were traipsing around southern Spain and had interesting stories to share. Our stay was a sheer delight, and we will go back again.

It is a great place to escape from the busy cities and relax. The hotel is authentic and the owners are really friendly. During breakfast you can enjoy the beautiful view of the hills. And in the evening you can enjoy the unusual ambiance by the fireplace. Just one remark, don't forget to turn left when you enter the village 😉

Not much , we thought it was still a Smurf village there but due to conflict with Sony or Hollywood pictures they had to take everything down that had to do with Smurf’s out of the village since 2017 It is a nice little city to pass by, but I wouldn’t recommend you staying there for more than one day as it is very, very boring absolutely nothing to do there

We had a really great and friendly welcome at the hotel. Also we went for dinner in the restaurant which was great with a wide selection also for vegetarians/ vegans. We followed our hosts recommendations and were really happy with that. We only stayed for a night but the facilities (pool etc.) looked great too. It's a shame that the town is only reachable by a long drive through the mountains because its definitely worth it! :) The free parking lot is also directly in front of the house.

We first stayed in El Olivo in 1997, 29 years ago. We had such good memories that we decided to go back. It was as good this time as it was then. Our host, Isidoro, still charming, friendly and helpful. Benalauría is a lovely white village - much better than some of the more famous ones. Don’t miss it.
