We appreciated being warmly welcomed and had an adjoining room with our friend. The facility was clean and comfortable. The location was ideal for needing to take our friend to the airport at a very early hour. Parking was easy and safe.

Location and Transport

Located 3 miles (5 kilometres) southwest of Málaga city centre, Málaga Airport connects to over 60 countries worldwide and welcomes roughly 16 million passengers every year. To get there, travellers have a choice of transport options. There’s the Fuengirola-Málaga Cercanías railway service, located opposite the airport, departing around every 20 minutes. Or there’s the Málaga airport bus service, Línea Express, which circulates between Málaga city centre and the airport. You can also take a taxi from Málaga airport to Málaga for a minimum fare of EUR 15.

There are several hotels near Málaga airport, all offering a shuttler service, and there’s plenty to do inside before takeoff. The Exhibition Hall houses temporary exhibits by local artists, while the airport museum lets travellers visit the airport’s original (and now disused) control tower. The hostel was very clean, the bed was comfortable and...

The hostel was very clean, the bed was comfortable and private, bathroom was same. I found it hard to open Key Box outside the hostel to access key for entry. I also found the code lock hard to see. Only for a very nice Russian lady, staying in the hostel coming to my aid, I wonder would I have got in at all. For those reasons, I will not book The Welcome Hostel on my return journey.

This is a nice beach location which can be used as a base...

This is a nice beach location which can be used as a base for other activities on the Costa Del Sol, Andalusia... or even Gibraltar and Morocco. It is close enough to a major city centre (Malaga) without feeling you are in a city. While 3 nights would be enough if all you care about is the beach, you would need up to 5 nights if exploring.

Nice quiet location at that time of year, and it was good we had a car for transport, which I thought was very important. But if you like hiking, there are great trails on your doorstep and great views, as its in the mountains

We really enjoyed my visit to Malaga.

We really enjoyed my visit to Malaga. The old town is charming, the beaches are clean, and there are plenty of restaurants and cultural attractions. It can get quite busy, but overall it's a fantastic place to visit.

Great for toddlers and children out of season, massive park area with a big play area different gardens and outside gym stuff and a smaller toddler park and play cafe we found at the end of the week at top left of park, birds at the lake, beach is walking distance and lots of buses go regularly to other areas if you want to head into another town

We were staying opposite Bil Bil castle and so it was a bit of a walk to the marina area and not a huge amount going on enroute - nice bar/restaurants. The marina was nice enough but for a 11-12 night stay you wouldn’t want to be visiting the same area every night. We got a taxi into Benalmadena centre and were surprised at how little there was going on there too. Our holiday is very much made from relaxing during the day in the sun then mooching around local shops and having a meal and few drinks in the evening. Personal opinion would be that I wouldn’t visit again as the whole place needs a facelift. The hotels , bars and restaurants (other than 1 5star hotel that looked nice on the way to the marina) all look very dated. We ended up eating in 2 restaurants over the course of our stay as we struggled for anywhere that looked particularly nice/clean - and i am not a fussy eater but do expect a good level of cleanliness!

A real town which we loved.

A real town which we loved. Connectivity is great with easy access to Malaga and a connecting station to all of Spain. We took the train to Cordoba for a few days- very easy and not expensive. Loved Malaga with its variety of eating experiences. For the first time, we visited El Palo- will not be the last!

We didn't expect to find a comfortable, modern, major tourist city about which it was difficult to find detailed information. So we were pleasantly surprised. Tons of shops and restaurants everywhere. Gorgeous, spacious, and free beaches.

Alhaurín de la Torre is an excellent base for travelling around Andalusia. There are plenty of shops and restaurants. Alhaurín itself is also worth a visit. Its location near Málaga airport is an advantage.

Málaga is a fantastic city and one of the highlights of Andalusia! Climbing up to Gibralfaro Castle is absolutely worth it—the panoramic views over the city and the Mediterranean Sea are breathtaking. The old town is full of charming streets and countless excellent Spanish and Andalusian restaurants serving delicious local cuisine. Don't miss the Picasso Museum, which is a true must-see for art lovers. Málaga has the perfect mix of history, culture, food, and beautiful scenery. I can't wait to come back!
