Our best stay in Spain so far! In the midst of beautiful mountains the hotel has amazing views. The rooms are clean. The staff is really friendly. Best of all, you have free breakfast. This place is worth it for people hiking in Picos de Europa or visiting the towns.

Nice hotel in a picturesque area. We took one night and started our hike at 7:30 (April), which was very nice cause trail was empty. Drive to the village is challenging, but not too long. Room had everything we needed and hotel has a nice restaurant.

Everything about this hotel is simple and fully satisfying. The floors, walls, and furniture all seem fairly new, and everything is kept spotlessly clean. The decor is simple and fitting. The food is simple, good, and filling. Best of all, the affable proprietor was ready with useful information and was happy to talk with me slowly and clearly, in simple terms, and to listen and respond cheerfully to my broken Spanish. And the setting is beyond magnificent - this is the last building before the national park.

Excellent village hidden inside the Picos Europa.

Excellent village hidden inside the Picos Europa. The drive here is very long but you could use Caín as home base for a few days walk around. Or use it as a checkpoint along a longer walk. Can sleep outside in tents if dry. Hostels available. Also good is very good here from multiple bars / restaurants. Locals live and work here.

The rutas del cares is a one day event.

The rutas del cares is a one day event. Other hikes in the area but I can't imagine more breath taking than this hike. Definitely advise staying in Cain to start hike from that end and not bothering with the last 2km decent into poncebo. Was able to leave around noon and return by about 6:30. beautiful drive into the area from the northwest as well as the drive out into the northeast toward Santander. I've hiked the alps, west highland way, appalachain, Ireland. Ruta del cares is at least as amazing and well worth the stop if in the north of spain. Although long not difficult at all. Some really high cliffs but the path is plenty wide to not get panicky.

We felt completely at home from the moment we arrived at this hotel thanks to the efforts of the staff, Antonio in particular spoke excellent English and was so friendly and welcoming. He gave us information about the local area, recommended dishes and was very flexible when we requested packed lunches on our final day! Would stay here again.

Super friendly family run place to stay in Cains. Room was basic but very comfortable, good shower and very good value for money. There is a small bar and restaurant attached to the hotel and the food and drinks were delicious. Would definitely recommend if you are passing through Cains on a hiking trip.

Fabulous spot to stay before walking Ruta de Cain. The meal there was great value & delicious too. We recommend the trout & also the beef cheeks. Staff were lovely. Such a special spot to stay.
