I had an excellent, unfortunately short, stay at Somberito. It's a family business and everyone was very kind and helpful. The rooms are simple, but absolutely spotless, and smartly thought out, so you have everything the traveler's heart could want (reading lamps, bedside table with plugs to charge your phone, roomy closet, fridge, perfect water pressure and temperature, (and if I remember correctly a window in the bathroom), comfortable bed, dark and light curtains,...). The breakfast is a fantastic option. The tortilla was delicious, but there was also fruit, cereal, different breads, hams and cheese, and more. Definitely worth the money. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed the two days I was staying (Wednesdays and Thursdays), so I didn't have the pleasure to taste their food. I had another booking I couldn't cancel or I'd definitely have stayed a day or two more. If I return to Tenerife, I'll definitely come back to Somberito again. Gracias por todo!

Casa Tajinaste and her attentive host fulfilled all our expectations. The house has a beautiful outdoor area where you can catch the early sun rays during breakfast and relax during the day. Everything is detailed and thoughtfully designed and decorated. It was very clean. The location of Vilaflor is ideal to stay close to the sun and reach multiple hiking paths easily while skipping the crowds of more touristic areas.

Definitely better than expected, and the stay was gradually improving each day, thanks to staff. The breakfast was amazing, way better than what was expected. The staff listened to our needs and requests and made sure we were heard. Things got way better after getting the portable heater in the room, as central heating was off for some reason. Definitely check the temperature forecast when you plan to go there, and ask for heater in advance.The reception closes at 20:00, after which you need to wait until next day if you need anything. We got a cheaper room, where wifi signal didn't reach. Had to survive first night in cold, as central heating was off and wasn't needed according to owner. (10 degrees Celsius during day, lower in the night).

This is lovely village with a fantastic location above the...

This is lovely village with a fantastic location above the clouds but still only a short drive from the Costa Adeje. It has several local restaurants, shops and cafes which are all full of character and lovely welcoming staff. The village is a base for a hikers and bikers - easy access to the Teide national park from here and lots of local walks too. Everything is walkable here - you can walk the village end to end in 20 minutes or so

Cosy village, with some good restaurants. Ideally positioned to go to the Teide National Park. Please keep in mind it is at 1400 m, in the forestal corona, so there is often fog, might rain a bit, and fresh temperatures, so get good clothes. When you go down to the coast, or up to the Teide, the sun reappears, typical phenomenon of the Canaries, it is part of the experience !

Vilaflor is half way up to the caldera Las Cañadas from the tourist hell resorts at the S coast. Can be a bit fresh/chilly in the evenings depending on the season. Several restaurants, bars, bakeries and small supermarkets = everything that you need.

Amazing little town, perfect for a getaway from all the busy seaside resorts. Has a pleasant atmosphere, nice restaurants and cafés and an ideal location for hikes in the area. I was thru-hiking the GR131.

I’m not sure if there’s anything else to do in Vilaflor than...

I’m not sure if there’s anything else to do in Vilaflor than the hiking trails, mountains and forest. Especially at weekends, everything is closed - shops (only local), restaurants, no people outside, the main square is surprisingly steep and in the middle is overgrown greenery like garden which makes impossible to take a photo of the centre of the village. Two churches may be open at times. Good parking lot by the churches, but the village is long, winding, steep, spreading sideways, hard to say where it begins and ends. And in January it’s really from chilly to freezing, unlike the coast.

We loved the lovely location, friendly staff and sweet cats! :) I love that the hotel is taking care of the cats, not like in other south regions. We had an amazing and relaxing time and enjoyed especially the calmness of the area and the hot tubes, and the short way up to Teide Nationalpark! Also it was only 30 mins to drive to the beach. It was the perfect place to enjoy Tenerife and escape the tourism areas! You definitly need a car and be prepared to drive a lot but it was more than worth it.

It was in a great location, away from everything, stunning views, the property itself had a very calming feel about it, well decorated. There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room, which isn’t usual for a Spanish hotel, also for those who wanted it, they also provided English tv channels. All the relaxation, sunbathing areas were set apart, so you could have privacy if wanted, set in their beautiful gardens.

The hotel is beautifully decorated and staff/owners are as friendly as could be. Rooms are super clean, spacious and well equipped, shower is great too (and we thought the bed was very comfortable). Dinner (a la carte) and breakfast were both really very good (in particular the starters at dinner). I’d definitely want to come back, preferably for longer than just one night!
