Staying at Château de la Huberdière was one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences you dream about and somehow get lucky enough to live. From the moment I arrived, Patrick and Lodovica were the most gracious, thoughtful hosts—every detail made me feel cared for in such a genuine way. Breakfast was homemade, abundant, fresh, and absolutely delicious. One morning, after the chickens had laid eggs, Lodovica made some just for me. That kind of warmth and attention was felt throughout my stay. As a writer, the solitude here was everything. Quiet, peaceful, held by the land. I started a new book and spent hours each day writing, looking out over the beautiful property. And when I wanted to venture out, the nearby town of Amboise was perfect—walkable, welcoming, inspiring. You have to eat at La Fourchette (truly incredible), and visiting Château du Clos Lucé, where Leonardo da Vinci spent his final years, is a must. I felt completely safe traveling alone in the area, and deeply inspired by this town built around a castle, right on the Loire River. Lodovica and Patrick upgraded my room, and it was honestly beyond special—a space I’ll never forget. Already planning to return in the next few months to experience spring!

What a beautiful property. All staff were welcome and kind, they rushed through a bag of laundry for us to be ready same day and did not charge extra. Dinner at the hotel was also delicious, service excellent, would do again. If you are driving around the area it is so nice to come home to parking as well. The location is such that you do not need a car to thoroughly visit Amboise itself. It was a high end experience without feeling pretentious or rigid in any way. The room and bed were very comfortable, the mattress was firm and bed large enough my husbands feet did not hang off the bed - can be tough to find in Europe.

Beautiful property in a quaint village. Breakfast was delicious, room was well appointed and comfortable. We had a lovely patio to sit out and enjoy a glass of wine. Spa facilities were clean and welcoming.

Quaint hotel within walking distances to the castle and many restaurants. Loved the air conditioning!! Free street parking was great - had 2 reserved spots just in front of the hotel. Nice buffet breakfast. Great service!

We had a lovely room in the main building thankfully with...

We had a lovely room in the main building thankfully with air conditioning which ensured a good nights sleep in the very comfortable bed . Dinner and breakfast were excellent with both taken out on the terrace overlooking the countryside . Whilst it is the perfect stop over en route through France we intend to make the effort and come back for a longer stay in future.

There is nothing to do or see in Cangey itself.

There is nothing to do or see in Cangey itself. The Cottages are located outside Fleuray, an other and even smaller and emptier village on a small 9 holes course, with no driving range, synthetic grass tee boxes and greens, with no par 5 and a very short par 3 requiring a lob wedge. Don't see any reason to play it twice. Amboise is a nice touristic city in the neighborhood, but 25 ton30 min drive away.

Very pleasant hotel, set in a quiet, rural location with gardens, outdoors swimming pool and seating, and a tennis court. Excellent dinner and buffet breakfast means that it would easily support a longer stay than our overnight stop. We would happily recommend and return.

This lovely hotel is an easy drive from the motorway so it’s a perfect stop over. Our room was spacious, stylish and very comfortable. Dinner was amazing. The staff are friendly and very welcoming. We will definitely visit again.
