Justifiably voted the best town to live in France some years ago.
It really has everything as a medieval town within the Vauban fort stone defensive walls.
Great restaurants, cafes and individual shops supplied from local farms and the fishing port of Etaples. Theatre and abundant cultural events throughout the year.
Surrounded by beautiful undulating countryside in the valley of the chalk spring water fed River Canche well known for its salmon and ideal for canoes and kayaks.
in close proximity to the beautiful sand dune coastline of the Cote d'Opale coast.
Ideal centre for walking and cycling.

Montreuil is a lovely town with lots of places to eat and...
Montreuil is a lovely town with lots of places to eat and has a great atmosphere . It was a great place to stay for a cycling weekend as easy to get to from calais either via train or bike. The town sits on a hill surrounded by a wall and has a path all the way round which makes for a lovely 45 minute walk round , especially nice at dusk.

A lovely main square in the town, with plenty of excellent eating places available. The town is busy, with it being popular with tourists. The citadel is spectacular and the walk around the ramparts, being one of the highlights.

Go to the bistronome and le cocquepot for either lunch or dinner. Both very authentic. Be prepared for a squeeze in froggys and perhaps to go to in the summer where the food is great but be careful to choose the right wine. Anything casual has to be at the grand place cafe in the square and make time to do the Saturday market even if your car smells of cheese and garlic all the way back to Blighty haha 🧀🧄

A great little place for an overnight or couple of days. Lots of cafes and restaurants. Good specialist shops -,brilliant cheese shop and coffee/wine merchant. A walk on the ramparts should not be missed!

Lovely area but must stress that in autumn/winter time the place is very quiet and also be aware that restaurants do not open late we arrived at 9pm and it seems very late to start eating we were the very last customers to arrive.

We really enjoy staying here, this was our second visit. Lydia is very welcoming and the period property is charming with comfortable, delightful, eclectic style. There is a very pretty small garden as well. We had a spacious bedroom and bathroom, with a comfortable bed. Montreuil sur Mer is a fascinating place to wander around, with a large central square, many cobbled streets, much of architectural and historical interest, many small shops and a really pleasant walk around the walls.

Straight from arrival, parking was right outside the front of the hotel. Friendly welcome from staff at reception, lovely ground floor room with high ceilings period to the building. Bath and shower was very welcome. Quiet, well located for a short walk into the town centre main square, with lots of bars and restaurants. Breakfast was outstanding, great range of choices, nobody hassling , although staff available if needed.

Lovely 3-star hotel in a super location in this pretty French town. Fabulous building, recently renovated in a modern classic style - crisp bedding - spotless bathroom - stylish deco, not stuffy & old fashioned.
No parking in the hotel grounds, but free parking close-by. Located very near the citadel, but also within a short pleasant walk to the squares, restaurants, shops, bars.
