Many people come here for a day trip or one night.

Many people come here for a day trip or one night. We stayed five nights and it was perfect. There are lots of chateaus in the area to visit, great restaurants, a lot of history (be sure to do the monolithic church tour!), and of course, great wine! We were sad to leave.

Amazing place.

Amazing place. Perched on the hill surrounded in every direction by vineyards and beautiful wineries. Lovely atmosphere with plenty of restaurants and cafes. Interesting history with lots of tours available. We will be back.

A beautiful ancient town with lots to see and coerience.

A beautiful ancient town with lots to see and coerience. Many places to eat and would recommend Table 38 and Cafe in central square. The monolithic church was amazing, can’t believe this was built when it was.

St Emilion was everything we hoped it would be and more.

St Emilion was everything we hoped it would be and more. Beautiful views and scenery across the village to the vineyards and countryside. There is much to do including visiting caves and wine tasting, vineyard tours, historic and medieval buildings, shopping, fantastic restaurants and local cuisine. Do take comfortable shoes - some of the passageways and streets are cobbled and quite steep.

We love Saint-Emilion.

We love Saint-Emilion. It is a charming historic town with great restaurants. We booked a table at Huitere a pied (sp?). The menu did not look great so we had planned to just have an appetizer. The staff was amazying and we had an artichoke dish there that we still talk about. They brought all kinds of extras. Top notch!

I went specifically to see the monolithic church.

I went specifically to see the monolithic church. It's amazing. The town is small and easily walkable in its entirety. The topography of the town means that at the highest points, where there is a viewing tower, you have a fantastic view over the vineyards. Lots of really super restaurants and cafes, a delightful main square next to the church replete with two equally good restaurant/cafes. The place is awash with wine merchants, of course. We bought some from directly beneath the apartment and also some gifts from a lovely jewellery shop directly opposite the apartment.

The hotel was stunning. Everything was of high quality. Staff were so professional yet friendly. Even though it was five star and French (!) it was so relaxed. The food was amazing. It’s pricey but worth it for a treat.
