I loved how beautiful and thoughtful every detail was - from the pre-visit emails to check on our preferences, to the personalised touches including the names of myself and my partner, to the extra care in providing fresh milk on our doorstep every morning. The space was gorgeous, and the staff made an effort to warn us of events taking place the nights of our stay, and took extra care to move us to a room that was further away from the main house to ensure privacy and quiet. Also loved the complimentary breakfast - which goes beyond a continental breakfast and included a full English or even a benedict. My partner even borrowed some of their complimentary wellies on a day that we went for a long walk (which were needed in November in the Cotswolds mind you!) so that was an amazing touch.

Lovely town, plenty of places to eat, very picturesque, lovely to walk around. Parking reasonable prices. We ate at the Toro Lounge, very nice food and reasonably priced. Also had tea and cakes at Diversitea Café, which was delicous, situated at the back of the market.

Beautifil old market town with ancient Roman history.

Beautifil old market town with ancient Roman history. Most town centre buildings are now of much later origin, but it's very pretty. The town was easy to get to and quite compact. Easy to walk around and through it. It has many pubs and cafes of a variety of standards, the varied menu of the Crown just off the market square was exceptionally good.

We stayed at the stratton house hotel with our dog.

We stayed at the stratton house hotel with our dog. We went for an evening dog walk at the Roman amphitheatre and abbey gardens which were both nice. We then walked through town to The Bear Inn for some dinner which was delicious and dog friendly. The city center looked nice and it would be nice to go back during the daytime when everything is open.

A very comfortable hotel, with plenty of parking close to the town centre. It has very steep stairs, so I really appreciated the assistance in getting the bags to the room. Fully cooked breakfast was appreciated.
