This is an inn that dates back to 1780. The pub and dining rooms have all been refinished. The dinner was excellent. Our room overlooked the harbour. Fascinating to watch the tide cycle.

The flat was comfortable in every way, it was peaceful and we slept well. The kitchen was well-equipped, the shower was powerful, the bedrooms were airy and beds very comfortable. We booked dinner twice in the Harbour Inn restaurant and the food was delicious, staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. The flat is a short walk from the coastal path which takes you to Galloway House gardens and goes on through a lovely woodland to Cruggleton Castle.

Quiet caravan park. Caravan had all the required ammenities. Slightly larger than the usual caravan which was nice. Warm, shower was good, bathroom a good size for this sort of accomodation. Tucked away at the back of the park, which was nice, although this is a small, quiet park anyway.

Very quiet but places to eat and walks on the doorstep.

Very quiet but places to eat and walks on the doorstep. Roads good to get to other places. It's not a golden sandy beach; but good for paddling or wild swimming or just meandering on at low tide. Lots of birdlife.

Garlieston is a very quiet seaside port with a long fishing history and was used during the second world war to evaluate the performance of Mulberry harbours before their use during the Normandy landings. It is mainly used by leisure sailing craft nowadays with a small caravan site near the harbour entrance. There are coastal walks in both directions from the village and Galloway House gardens within walking distance. The Hive cafe sells food all day and the local inn has a comprehensive menu. An easy drive to Portpatrick and Mull of Galloway is well worth doing.

The village of Garlieston is very quiet and picturesque with great views over the harbour and the sea. I stayed at the Harbour Inn which provides excellent meals. Garlieston appears to have been a very busy harbour in the past and was the location for trials involving the construction of the Mulberry Harbours used after D Day to provided a landing dock for goods and materials.

Pleasant village with picturesque harbour and waterfront.

Pleasant village with picturesque harbour and waterfront. Interesting history as the development site for the D-Day Mulberry Harbours. Good walks along the coast. Facilities are a bit limited as far as I can tell there is The Harbour Inn, a cafe, a touring caravan site, public WC, and on the outskirts a garage with a small shop and only a diesel pump. Be prepared.
