What an amazing place to stay, I only wish it was for longer. An excellent breakfast, one of the best I've had while being away, served in the room and accompanied by a beautiful sea view. Can't recommend highly enough and excellent value for money.

The location was amazing, in a quiet but beautiful street. The interior was really lovely, calming, tastefully decorated with a great layout. The hamper and flowers was a nice welcome, on arrival.

There is a beautiful beach sadly the town is run down I visited the few shops that were open top to toes lovely array of items. The wool and craft shop very helpful nice helpful chatty people. Had a lovely breakfast at Marleys and fish tea at the harbour. So many shops lying empty, feel owners should at least be made to keep them maintained and smart. Took a run down to Ballantrae, nice drive along the coast. Wee rummage in the thrift shop the lovely lunch in the garden centre.

We loved Girvan with a visit to the High Street, harbour,...

We loved Girvan with a visit to the High Street, harbour, beach and prom, The Stumpy (town jail) in the middle of the town. Special shout out to Austin’s and The Vaults restaurants for lovely evening meals. And finally to Girvan Prom ParkRun for a fantastic event, very friendly welcome and support.

Sadly the town centre has fell away but Girvan is still very much worth a visit. Girvan has a lovely, clean sandy beach with an excellent play area and boating pond adjacent to the front. There are tennis courts, a great wee museum, gardens with an aviary and some fabulous walks along the front or up the Dow Hill for the more adventurous. There are some great places to eat like Maly's cafe, Davies snackbar, The Vaults, Finn's boatyard or Austen's Italian restraurant. They are all very good. I forgot to mention the fabulous ice cream shop. Their ice cream and slushy drinks are fab.

Sadly like a lot of towns Girvan town centre has suffered from a lack of visitors. On saying that there are still some great cafes, pubs, restaurants and gift shops. Down the front there is a beautiful sandy beach with a great play area and boating pond nearby. Kids will enjoy searching for fossils in the rocks at the far end of the beach. Don't miss Davey's snack bar along there too. The river comes through the edge of the town making it very picturesque. There are also public swimming baths, an avairy and a small museum. Boat trips to the Ailsa Craig can also be booked from the harbour. Girvan is well worth a visit.

Girvan is a great base for walking and cycling and enjoying...

Girvan is a great base for walking and cycling and enjoying the western Galloway coast and countryside - plenty of unspoilt scenery without the crowds you'd find in similar beautiful parts of the UK. Being on the west coast, be prepared for wet and windy weather at certain times of year, but the coastal strip is not often very cold or snow-bound. It is worth visiting other local villages such as Maidens or Ballantrae, or venturing inland to pretty locations like Barr, Dailly, Straiton, or Dalmellington. Nearby are the Carrick hills and Culzean Castle. Girvan is not the resort it probably was 50 years ago. There are many closed businesses and few tourist facilities, and the lack of jobs locally means younger people often leave the town, giving it a slightly tired feel about the main streets. The people are friendly and proud of their location, quite rightly as the scenery is attractive (coastal views, hills and countryside). In recent years, incomers are discovering the great value for money in local property and there are signs they may be revitalising the town with new ventures.

Girvan is a magnificent wee town.

Girvan is a magnificent wee town. It’s a fair bit passed its sell date in terms of shops but the harbour, the sea front, the parks, and the golf course are all still fabulous. There are still a few decent places to eat and one or two decent old pubs too. If you are keen on hillwalking then it’s a great destination too being surrounded immediately by some cracking hills.

Great hotel located right on the A77 just outside Girvan. Our room was on the beach side and had excellent views of the town, and the beach. Room was spacious and bathroom also quite large. Items supplied for continental breakfast (cereal, croissants, ham, cheese, condiments etc.) Mini kitchen was great for preparing a light meal if you don't want to eat out. Hotel is a 5-10 minute drive from Girvan for restaurants etc. There is no restaurant at the hotel.

Peel House B&B was a newly renovated property that was originally the local police station. It was centrally located in Girvan, and was an easy walk to the Girvan beachside park and promenade. Chris and Lisa were very welcoming hosts, and made us feel at home. Our room was very comfortable and we had a large separate bathroom. The breakfast provided was very tasty, and a bargain take-away lunch package was offered which we readily accepted.

This is a council flat in a council estate in girvan. We didn’t stay as we called the booking and the man was shouting at me. I am reporting this to the bank and PayPal as the payment was taken and we drove back him
