If we could add a sixth star just for Emma, one of the staff members at this hotel, we would. She was a rock star! In fact, all of the charming staff at this inn, including Manuel, Jennifer and Daniel, make it a lodging with a beautiful view and big heart! We stayed in Silver Howe and loved the view of Wordsworth's grounds and the sheep. The location right next to a bus stop, the center of Grasmere and hiking trails allowed us to have our entire vacation without a car. The rooms were clean, and the breakfast every morning was incredible! It had a continental component (yogurt, coffee, pastry and more) AND a hot plate (sausage, hash browns, eggs and more), all included in the price of our room. At night, we loved the hotel bar and enjoyed sharing stories with the staff and other visitors, as well as seeing the amazing dogs of some of the guests. We will definitely come back.

The hostel is in an excellent secluded position, a few minutes walk from GRASMERE village. The countryside around is beautiful. In summer Grasmere itself as a ‘honeypot’ destination with its location and Wordsworth connections is quite pricey and fairly busy with cars and tourists during the daytime. The food in Lewis’s Bistro was excellent, booking required. Lancrigg looked a delightful place for a coffee if you wanted a very short walk from the village into the valley.

Lovely village to visit, especially for fans of William...

Lovely village to visit, especially for fans of William Wordsworth. Be careful as there are not many pavements, so you end up walking on the road in the main area. There are a few cafes open in the day. In the evening we only found one restaurant, that was shut that day, so it was the restaurants in the pubs or hotels. We’d visit again, but not stay overnight.

Village really nice few shops, Famous Gingerbread shop always queues there. Wordsworth Cottage right opposite Daffodil hotel The Inn pub did nice food, parking always busy but can park at Daffodil hotel cheap £5 i think and walk into village, Bus stop right outside by wall into Ambleside and other villages every 20 minutes for £3 each way. Rydal Cave worth a visit , park at Ambleside cricket club £3 and walk left towards the sign which says stepping stones then walk up threw packed carpark up hill . Takes about an hour each way. No places to get drinks of food so take snacks with you.

Grasmere village (ie not Daffodil Hotel) is a delightful place -lots of different refreshment options including famed gingerbread shop plus historic church and Wordsworth connections. Location by beautiful Grasmere Lake is idyllic and can be indulged by doing an easy circular lake walk

There are plenty of tourist attractions in the village and...

There are plenty of tourist attractions in the village and there are many places sellling good food. Parking can be problematic and the streets a bit crowded for those who are less than confident on their feet. We are fortunate that we can be in Grasmere in about an hour from our home and is a ready option for coming to with oir visitors. Always enjoyable - galleries and gingerbread.

Grasmere is a very nice village, well-located for visiting...

Grasmere is a very nice village, well-located for visiting the lakes and only an hour from the coast at Whitehaven. Allan Bank, a National Trust house where William Wordsworth wrote his Lakes guide, is well worth a visit and is barely ten minutes walk.

Everything. Bedroom was big and had the feel of luxury about it. Shower was excellent with no waiting on hot water. View outside window was peaceful. Breakfast was delish and plenty to fill you up for the day. Afternoon tea was a welcome surprise. Staff were professional and friendly. The decor was beautiful and inviting. Grasmere is a beautiful and peaceful place and I would recommend staying here at Bridge House Hotel.

Perfect location for our visit to Ambleside and Grasmere and easy access to plenty of lovely walks. The hotel was very nice and the staff were friendly. The bar was quite small, but cool, and the Spa was also small, but cool! Breakfast was included with our stay and was served quickly and was tasty. We had a lovely stay, thank you!

Excellent price for what you get in a great location. We had the cosy room and it was bigger than we expected. Staff were extremely kind and attentive, breakfast was great. A very good price considering where you are and the cost of other hotels in Grasmere.
