After travelling the whole day and being turned away from a poorly advertised adults-only place down the road with my tired 4 year old in tow, I booked a room at Ranfield's 5 minutes before walking through the front door, as the restaurant was closing. I was scared at that point of being a nuisance, but got the warmest welcome to any hotel I've ever stayed at. They sorted out a quick and delicious dinner for both of us and brought it up to the room, which was warm, cozy, beautiful, clean, and stocked with perfect snacks and breakfast foods. The staff were so genuinely kind and fun, I don't even know what to say... I never leave reviews but this experience will always stand out for me. I could go on much longer about how none of this was necessary and how cheerfully everyone went out of their way to make us comfortable. Thank you so much for the wonderful accommodation. It really felt like a life saver!

We like the community fridge lots of things in there for people to take and, lots of items to they vary from day to day.They have 3 supermarkets so you can choose which one you visit and, a few cafes and, pubs to go to as well its a a nice place to walk around there are always flowers scattered around halstead makes the place look pretty especially when the sun is out.. Yes very easy to eat around halstead

Such a beautiful building and room with everything you could possibly need. So much better than staying in a hotel. Check in was seamless even though I only booked it on the day, bargain price for such a beautiful place

Halstead is a pretty market town with some unusual shops as...

Halstead is a pretty market town with some unusual shops as well as various supermarkets. It is well within reach of some lovely villages close by. There are plenty of places to eat or have a coffee. We walked around Halstead as we were able to leave our car in the hotel carpark all day. We are NOT a young couple (late 70s) but there were plenty of places to go for a drink. I wouldn't say there was a wild night life but for a very pleasant and restful weekend, it is perfect.

A quaint, sleepy market town, steeped in history, surrounded by beautiful countryside. Reminds me of Appleby. Lots of independent shops and eateries, including a 'cat cafe' and a 'book cafe'.

The way I was treated as a guest. Everything was so cared for, clean and neatly arranged. The owner was very friendly. (Photo: view from bedroom.) Halstead is a nice little town, e.g. with interesting antiques centre.
