The welcome and hospitality was excellent. Comfortable bed and good quality bedding. Food is excellent, deserts are to die for and breakfast excellent with just the best quality local produce. Location is beautiful and the drinks selection is excellent - outstanding wine including hughe selection by the glass - and non alcoholic gin. We would return to eat.

Lavenham is a lovely old Tudor village.

Lavenham is a lovely old Tudor village. It is very quiet at night and there are limited restaurants that open for dinner, but you can always find something. If you want a beautiful setting with which to tour around Suffolk you can't go wrong here.

A unique town of medieval and Tudor buildings, little changed from its prominence in the woollen fabric trade. Now gentrified, with arguably too many holiday rentals, it is immaculately kept and charming.

This charming old village is a true ‘must-visit’ destination...

This charming old village is a true ‘must-visit’ destination, featuring stunning medieval architecture. It boasts 320 listed timber-framed buildings, many of which are protected by English Heritage. During the medieval period, Lavenham was one of the twenty wealthiest settlements in England. The high street is very pleasant, and you should definitely take the time to explore the market square. There are plenty of delightful teashops to enjoy, and be sure to visit the Little Hall located in the market square.

Lavenham, exceptionally beautiful; both historically and...

Lavenham, exceptionally beautiful; both historically and architecturally very impressive. If late mediaeval and Tudor buildings appeal to you, Lavenham is the perfect place to stay . The Guildhall, owned and preserved by the National Trust is a must for a visit as is listening to the guide Tom. Tom has a forensic knowledge and great love for the building and its history, he also has a great sense of humour and he makes a visit to the Guildhall alive with fascinating detail. We enjoyed a fabulous stay at The Swan and will return there. Our only mistake was a visit to the Memsahib Restaurant on a Sunday evening; charming people but exceptionally greasy and tasteless food. The Swan has an excellent Spa which may well appeal to all ages and there are many independent shops to browse. There are also great walks to be enjoyed nearby and wealth of history to uncover.

The local shops and tea rooms were lovely and all within walking distance of the hotel, perfect location for us. The Greyhound served tapas which was very nice, we didn't go out in the garden but I think there is a seating area outside. The Swan is lovely, you can go to for a drink or a meal, there is a lovely garden too. There are several small independent shops with interesting and varied products. The Curiosity Corner shop is worth a visit and the Antique shop is quite big with lots of interesting items, again worth a visit. We found most of the shops interesting. The Market Square is very quaint and lovely to just sit and be with a cuppa!

Very friendly and helpful shop keepers. Very interesting village. I have been visiting for a number years. I came this time specifically for 500th anniversary of the completion of the church tower and because I am a member of the Spring family.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room was excellent, featuring nice furnishings, and the bed was very comfortable. We also appreciated the complimentary coffee, wine, and water. The breakfast was fantastic, especially the sausages, and the staff was very friendly. The attention to detail in everything is clearly evident, and the staff were laid-back and super friendly—it wasn’t pompous. Thoroughly recommend. Thank you to the staff for all the hard work you obviously put in.

The cottage is in a great location. We were very pleased with the facilities and the welcome hamper was a really nice touch. The owners have thought of everything to help make the stay as comfortable as possible. Lavenham is a pretty little village with good shops, tea-rooms and bars. It's also a great location for getting around to other parts of Suffolk. We will happily book this cottage again the next time we are in the area.
