Maldon has quite a few special events and celebrations...

Maldon has quite a few special events and celebrations through the year. Timing your visit to co-incide would be a good move. When we went, there was a sizeable travelling funfair, a sea shanty festival and change ringing on Sunday. Wonderful. Good walking by the river and canal, and kingfishers if you are lucky.

Excellent selection of local pubs, worth a beer crawl !

Excellent selection of local pubs, worth a beer crawl ! Most pubs very economical except for the White Horse where charges were double elsewhere ! Plenty of places to eat. Visiting the Queens Head on the dock side is a must for a drink and/or excellent food.

Maldon is a lovely small town with a big Main Street.

Maldon is a lovely small town with a big Main Street. It has many old buildings and old working churches. This is where the Maldon sea salt comes from. There are so many lovely tea rooms and bars, it was especially beautiful as it was Xmas. A well known cafe is Mrs Salisburys, super food, and their Xmas decorations were fantastic, they had igloos outside that you could book for a small group. If you walk right down the high street, you come to the estuary with a lovely walk, a park and gardens. There are all kinds of boats on the estuary, you can easily spend a few hours there. It really is a lovely town to visit at any time of year, and there is a Marks and Spencer’s.

Maldon had a lovely old fashioned high street with some individual shops rather than the chain shops. Some lovely pubs and places to eat. Promenade Park was worth a visit, great if you have kids as lots going on there. Lovely walks along the estuary.

Lovely town.

Lovely town. You have plenty of shops, cafés and restaurants. We particularly liked the Solero Lounge. Everyone in the shops and eateries was pleasant and friendly. We loved Hythe quay. We booked a trip round the river Blackwater on a Thames Barge. It was a cold morning but we still enjoyed it.

The most outstanding feature of our stay was the exceptional staff we encountered from check in through to our dinner and breakfast the following morning. I've stayed in some high quality places around the world on business and leisure trips and I can honestly say I can't recall anywhere that exceeded the welcome and the engagement with the people working here. The evening meal we thoroughly enjoyed and breakfast was also of high quality, noting the sausages and bacon particularly which is often where hotels cut too many corners!

Hotel was in a perfect location for Maldon town centre we were staying to go to Chelmsford racecourse which was a 30 min drive away but with hotel having a car park that was helpful and also having electric car charging points an added bonus. Double room very nice and clean and had lots of tea and coffee facilities water and toiletries even air conditioning unit which we should have used as room was warm! staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast was delicious
