Loved the breakfast.

Loved the breakfast. We traveled 47 miles from the airport because of a “heat wave”! All accommodations for 40 miles were taken because of all the cancelled flights. Super expensive taxi ride to and from Heathrow at way over $500. Hotel was reasonably priced but front desk personnel need better training. Any other circumstance, we would have loved the stay. I wish this review could have been better.

Ours was a practical stay, inasmuch as we wanted accommodation before catching the Portsmouth to France and of course the return journey. So basically just two separate over night stops. Managed to walk into the main shopping area from the hotel. no more than a 100 yards to the shops. Would certainly consider a short stay in the area from what I saw.

Lovely historical market town.

Lovely historical market town. Enjoyed walking my Hearing Dog for the Deaf round the town, along the canals and Snelsmore Common. If you want to support the local economy, I recommend the Gurkha Chef restaurant; where I stayed, Bacon Arms and The Teashop By the Canal.

Newbury is a lovely town with good shopping, cafes, bars and access to the canal with its ducks, geese and swans. We enjoyed our few days here. Also saw a film and stand up comic at the Corn Exchange which is a lovely venue.

Traveled to Newbury for the races on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 February 2026. One accommodation let us down - stating the room was unsafe 30 mins before check-in, so we booked the Regency Park Hotel at the last minute. Staff were so welcoming 👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

As a Wetherspoons the food was competitively priced and plentiful and the time waiting for the food to come was quick. The hotel is well placed in the centre of Newbury, close to a number of shops, restaurants and a market outside on the Saturday morning had some interesting stalls. We used public transport to get there, so are unable to rate the parking facilities, but there is really no need to use a car, as the train station is less than 15 minutes walk away.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Regency Park Hotel. The staff were exceptional—extremely helpful, friendly, and polite, while remaining highly professional at all times. The breakfast was very good, and I especially loved the soup at dinner, which was perfectly prepared. The location is ideal: close to the city yet peaceful and away from the bustle. I would absolutely love to return and stay here again.

The room size was very good and the bed itself was large and comfortable. It is a large, traditional coaching-house type property, apparently mentioned by Thomas Hardy in 'Jude The Obscure', and is located at the top of Newbury 'High Street' so in a good location for the town. Ample free car parking at the hotel. Bar and dining on site.
