The hotel was lovely clean and airy considering how hot the weather was. There was no noise and the staff we exceptionally good. We loved having a garage, restaurants and Greggs so close by. The room was large and had everything we needed. Would definitely come back again

The Swan is in Forton a couple of miles from the centre of Newport. Newport has some nice old buildings and a good selction of food a drink options, and shops including a recently restored indoor market. Nice for a a days exploring.

We had a lovely weekend visiting university daughter.

We had a lovely weekend visiting university daughter. Stayed at The Swan Inn on Lower Bar. Loved the short stroll to the high street and shopping. Very friendly locals. Lots more to do than we had time for. Had Sunday lunch at The Lamb Inn at Edgmond - highly recommended. The architecture of the buildings along the high street was lovely.

A lovely little town with lots of historic buildings .

A lovely little town with lots of historic buildings . Verry easy to walk around and some attractive floral displays. Sadly I was only there for a night so I didn;t have time to eat out but there was no shortage of places if you wanted to.

Wonderful with a remarkable church right in the centre.

Wonderful with a remarkable church right in the centre. There seems to be a lively student community but local bars are serviced by door staff who appear to limit rowdiness. The Railway Tavern was a real gem being easy walking distance from the hotel and past the church. This bar serves a marvellous range of snacks all day, has the most incredible pork pies I have ever tasted. One visit they 12 different real ales on tap as well as the usual lagers and ciders. A very well run establishment.

I spent 3 nights in Newport, I didn't explore the town in...

I spent 3 nights in Newport, I didn't explore the town in great detail to be fair, I used it as a base to visit Mach Loop which is an area in mid Wales for low flying fighter jet training, and I went to a couple of evening football matches, one at Shrewsbury, and the other a Crewe. What I experienced in Newport was pleasant enough, a variety of eating establishments, as well as the normal High Street shops, etc. Newport is an old Market Town idea for a base to visit the County of Shropshire, and further afield if you wish.

House was in a lovely location. Newport is a great little town and very accessible to lots of other areas if driving. The house is well decorated and well appointed inside and beds are very comfortable although the pillows were a bit hard. Only thing we couldn’t find was a wine bottle opener we had to go buy one in the town. Neighbours were lovely too.

Absolutely fantastic lovely location. Owners couldn't have been more helpful and I was really pleased I stayed here whilst attending a wedding. Close to Newport and other local areas of interest I only stayed one night but was so glad I booked over other local hotels
