I recently stayed at a Holiday Inn Southend and it was a sublime belter. From the moment I arrived, I was treated like a VIP— Very Impressed Punter. The room was BOOM TING. I checked under the bed fully expecting to find a forgotten sock from 1997, but no, nothing. The bed was so comfortable I briefly considered playing 'JUMP' by Van Halen to the max. The staff acted as if they genuinely enjoy their jobs. The location was perfect: altho watching all the planes taking off, without going on holiday, was like someone dangling a Big Mac in front of you and not letting you have a bite. Overall, a barn-stormer of a stay. Clean, comfy and corking. If you know what it's like to sit on the Eiger while listening to banging drum n bass, this is for you.

It was the perfect place to stay to visit with friends and...

It was the perfect place to stay to visit with friends and had all that I needed plus it has good road connections to other nearby places of interest. I would definitely recommend Wilma's - they make the best coffee! And judging by their reviews their food is excellent too. I visited the windmill and the sensory garden which was a peaceful getaway. The town has lots of shops other than all the usual ones which crop up in every shopping area.

Rayleigh is a historic town with a very old church and graveyard at the bottom. The Main Street is vibrant with many cafes and restaurants. There are small independent shops as well as a lovely indoor market and M&S food hall. Near Rayleigh is a large Sainsbury’s with Petrol station. The area nearby has lots to offer, more lovely towns like Maldon and beautiful countryside and nearby estuary.

Rose Garden Retreat is a lovely property with a wonderful host. Angie is so friendly and welcoming and the room we stayed in was immaculate, private and beautifully furnished, so many thoughtful touches to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. The location was perfect for a party in the centre of Rayleigh, a short walking distance and Angie was so kind and even dropped us at our venue on the way. We couldn’t have asked for more, a big thank you to Angie for her wonderful hospitality.

It was a clean and tidy accommodation near enough to the centre of Rayleigh, 10min walk, but fairly quiet. I thought I might hear the local traffic but out like a light so I guess not. Shower was amazing, I could have stood there all night, but was looking forward to a good night’s sleep. The host made sure everything was explained, very helpful. No hesitation about going back there, very impressed and good value.

Very peaceful and relaxing stay . Our room was lovely was made to feel extremely welcome by our lovely host It was fab that we could use the lovely garden. Would definitely be my first choice if we came to Rayleigh again 😁 Hockley woods is a lovely walk

Angie is an amazing host who goes above and beyond to make your stay as enjoyable as can be. She started as a stranger to me but I will now forever consider her a friend. I will definitely choose Rose garden retreat if I ever need to stay in Rayleigh again.
