Pretty well everything was excellent. Rooms were spacious, food very good and staff so friendly. It is one of the few places we have stayed in recent times that provided a non-slip mat for the shower alcove - most are downright dangerous but this was really good in that regard. Set in open and pretty Yorkshire countryside, the place has obviously been improved progressively in recent times. Highly recommended.

From start to finish our hosts couldn’t do enough for us. After showing us to our beautiful room and explaining how to get inside should we be late returning from our evening celebration they checked we were having breakfast the following morning and booked a taxi to collect us that evening. We had a lovely chat with them and heard about what they had done since taking over the property a year ago. It felt so comfortable and friendly, having a couple of drinks in the bar with the locals, prior to going out. Breakfast was ample and beautifully cooked. And to cap it all………when we arrived home I realised we had forgotten to empty a couple of drawers. John the owner kindly arranged for the items to be sent on to us . We will definitely be returning. Thank you Rushcart Inn for a lovely stay.

Sowerby Bridge is a lovely little Yorkshire town with plenty...

Sowerby Bridge is a lovely little Yorkshire town with plenty of traditional Yorkshire heritage (Stone buildings, old mills etc) but it is bustling with lots of shops and restaurants. Plus, Chris Martin came and played his secret gig here before Coldplay’s record breaking run of concerts at Wembley (and Hull!)…he is unlikely to be playing here again anytime soon but it did put Sowerby Bridge on the map!

Everyone was very friendly, it was clean and nothing was too...

Everyone was very friendly, it was clean and nothing was too much trouble. The Inn has recently been refurbished. We found it a little difficult to find, the road is narrow. Approaching from the left there were no signs. Approaching from the right there was a big sign on the side of the building.

Lovely clean town with lots of places to eat out.

Lovely clean town with lots of places to eat out. The canal was quite pretty to walk along with lots of waterfowl waiting for you to throw food. There were some old cobbled roads still around the town which was really quaint and added to the character of the place. We had travelled up from surrey and London just for 2 days for a funeral so didn't really have enough time to have a really good look around so i bet there are so many great places to visit around the area. From what we saw, there was some beautiful scenery so I can imagine there would be some great walks. We would really like to come back and explore more!!

I love this area but there again, I'm biased as I was...

I love this area but there again, I'm biased as I was brought up here. Sowerby Bridge is gritty and unpretentious and the surrounding scenery is just stunning. It has some good pubs and eateries - have a look at the area down by Moorings - and it's only a few minutes by rail into Halifax or half an hour in the other direction to Hebden Bridge. The train trip is worth it for the lovely scenic journey though the Calder Valley alone. (You might recognise Sowerby Bridge railway station and its environs from Series 2 of Happy Valley)

It is a lovely area but I do not recommend the town itself...

It is a lovely area but I do not recommend the town itself to stay in - there are nicer villages/towns in the area and places on the hills above the town which would appeal to people more. No great restaurants as far as I could see or experienced. A slight air of decay/poverty is prevalent.

If you like industrial heritage and don't need to be told...

If you like industrial heritage and don't need to be told what your looking at SB is very interesting. We can also recommend both the Moorings pub for food and The Puzzle Hall Inn for beer and live music. If you like walking and steep hills, Norland opposite SB is for you

We recently stayed here with our dog for my partner's birthday. We couldn't have wished for anything better! Location is brilliant, property is beautiful and the overall weekend was perfect. You have many great walks surrounding you for relaxing strolls with your dog or just a short drive away is sowerby bridge if you want something a bit more lively. Can't wait to go back again in warmer months.

Despite being on the main throughfare of Sowerby Bridge the noise from the road was almost un-noticeable Perfectly warm enough with the outside tempretures being at freezing point Great reception staff who good do no wrong and had a genuine interest in make the stay as good as one would expect Sky TV great Very comfortable beds Kitchen well appointed

Great location high above the Calder Valley, but away from the tourist hotel spots. Warm welcome and a comfortable room. A choice of real ales at the bar. Good public transport links, we managed to explore the local area without a car.
