Awful, in no way suitable for disabled and breaks health and saftey Liked · Nothing Disliked · everything so much so we didnt stay more that 5 minutes , requested a refund within 30 minutes of booking but owner has refused even though we offered to pay £100 cancelation fee. Owner gave a false impression that he was going to refund by advising us to contact booking .com as they had the money at that time. but even after several requests he will not budge.. Beware

Quiet but well serviced area with good proximity to a number of beautiful and interesting places . The Attenborough Reserve, DH Lawrence Birthplace Museum, Shardlow village (an 18th Century inland port) and it's Heritage Trust Centre and much more. If you love nature, literature, social/ industrial/ working class history.. this is a gem of a location. I'll definitely be going back.

I only stayed the one night. I had a meal in the local Gurkha restaurant which was good and within budget, the staff were very friendly. Also there is a Italian take away facing the Horse and Jockey which looked good.

I was in Stapleford for a weekend long sewing workshop at Sewing B workshop was excellent, well worth the trip from London, can recommend Elaine’s friendly, inclusive atmosphere and tutoring: I think she has many returning students! Stayed at the Horse and Jockey pub, basic, no-frills accommodation, but room was clean, comfortable, warm and the bathrooms spotless. Pub doesn’t serve food but several cafes, restaurants and shops nearby. I felt very welcomed by the staff and safe as a solo woman guest. Will definitely be back, both for more sewing and to stay at the pub, all round very good experience. Regular buses to and from Nottingham made the traveling easy too.

There are plenty of food outlets, Indian, fish and chips, Italian and pizza places. Some were closed on a Saturday night which made me wonder if the place doesn't attract enough visitors to sustain all the outlets.

The buses into Nottingham are really good and regular, start early and finish late and they also go to Derby. Don't rely on cafe's being open, we had to walk some distance past several unopened cafe's before we came to a takeaway with tables that we could get a meal in! Most likely a good place as a base to go elsewhere. There seem to be a plethora of takeaways
