The staff remained courteous and hospitable continuously, from before payment right until retiring to my room in the later hours after enjoying the pub perhaps a little too much. Within an hour I'd already planned my future visits to the area around The Hawkenbury. My room had everything I could need and more with a special shout-out to the smart-tv which even chain budget hotels seem to struggle to provide. Wi-fi was reliable and cleanliness was consistent. The food I didn't eat however it did make me wish I'd forgone the convenient McDonalds before my arrival. A gem of a place that deserves much more recognition.

This well-run location is an absolute gem and I'd be delighted to be able to stay again sometime in the future. The rooms were well equipped and spacious, the dining and breakfast experience were exceptional and the bar was well stocked and staffed to boot! My partner and I were both pleasantly surprised by this upscale venue and felt very well looked after by the friendly and obliging staff throughout our stay. Thank you so much, this was a real treat and highlight of our holiday!

Lovely hosts and excellent location for visiting the fabulous National Trust properties and famous gardens in the area. Never had to drive more than 30 mins to these bucket list locations. The studio was bright and cosy, superbly fitted out, with awesome westerly sunset views west over the fields. Sitting on the outdoor patio, listening to the birdsong and watching the sunset = wonderful!

The Staplehurst Free Church had a good Sunday evening gig, a fairly good mix of secular and spiritual songs, a Christian comedian, and friendly people. Apart for a cringe Chris Tomlin song which degraded Newton's .Amazing Grace' into lite-Sabellianism, an enjoyable time with free cake & cookies.

Good traditional pub in a very quiet position with 3 good quality motel type rooms set at the rear of the grounds, each with its own front door and patio with tables and chairs. (A little more could be made of this area, some colourful planting etc). Large beer garden area to the rear of the pub. Staff were very welcoming and the menu choice for evening meal was good. Good size separate restaurant room which we were told was having some upgrade later this year. Pleasant view from here over the grassed beer garden area. Note we arrived on a Tuesday and told no food Monday and Tuesday evening but staff immediately gave a couple of good recommendations 10 minutes drive away. Very good position to visit two famous gardens, Gt Dixter and Sissinghurst, 30 and 15 minutes away.

I was there to attend a funeral just before the Winter Solstice, not on holiday on this occasion. I enjoyed a previous visit there. It is a very small country town surrounded by the Kent countryside, with dark, winding country lanes, oast houses, orchards and fields of sheep. There is a small railway station, often unmanned, but as a non-driver, I was dependent on friends and the manager of the hotel for car transport and to find my way around. On my previous visit I enjoyed visiting nearby National Trust properties and a garden centre with cafe in the town.

I grew up here but now there is only one pub where there used to be five. Also there is no accommodation available at all in the village. So all in all there's not really much scope for tourism here.

Staplehurst is a typical Kent village with history and a mix of residential and attractive rural properties. There are some lovely walks around the area. It is not far to drive to Tenterden with its impressive high street or to other villages like Cranbrook with historic pubs. Staplehurst has a good Sainsbury's for grocery shopping and a train station to commute to London.

The rooms are lovely, clean and with excellent facilities. Location wise it’s ideal for Staplehurst station where there is great parking to get to London. The food and breakfast is really good but the jewel in the crown is the friendliness and warm welcome you get in this family run pub. I cannot overstate how lovely and welcoming the owners are. This was my second stay there and by far the best place I’ve found so far in Kent.

If there was a competition for the best shower even as its above a bath the pressure was better than some top hotels I have stayed in. Very spacious room and in honesty I would normally avoid accommodation with pubs but you are tucked securely away behind the car park so zero noise or interruptions. Will definitely stay again.
