Working close to Cherry Tree Cottage throughout August, I found it to have everything that I could want to allow some self catering and achieve early starts on site. The wifi connection allowed me to keep up with my documentation and wider contacts and the comfortable bed and quiet location allowed for plenty of rest. However I found the host to be in common with the wider area and its inhabitants, friendly, helpful and outgoing. It was great to have this as a base to explore the area more widely to build some memories that were not just about the work.

It was exactly what I needed. A clean comfy (really comfy) bed, a nice hot shower, a sweet gentleman named Bob who shared the history of the building with me. A pub on the first floor. Plenty to eat around the corner. Perfect.

The hotel was extremely festive, decorated for the holidays. The fires were lit in the lounge and bar, making for lovely spaces in which to have tea and drinks. The food in the restaurant and bar was very good. The spa was luxurious, and the services were done well. Parking is plentiful and convenient. The front desk staff was cheerful and helpful in all respects. The bathrooms were well-appointed. The housekeeping team made sure that we had plentiful towels, toiletries and coffee/tea supplies. We ran out in a rush one day of our stay leaving a terrible mess, and were pleasantly surprised to return to a cleaned and orderly room.

The area of Stourport around the basins and along the river is really lovely. Lots of wonderful views of the hills around. Plenty to visit if you know the area but a lot is hidden. The views from st Bartholemews? church along the Severn valley is wonderful. The canal walks provide a different view of the area. Stouport's high street is awful and should be avoided.

Stourport is very walkable.

Stourport is very walkable. It's like a seaside town without the sea. It has a great high street with good shops, including high st names, an Alladins cave of an antique shop and the best hot choc I've ever had from the shop opposite it - it was excellent. In the summer, The Angel pub is excellent, right next to the river. We ate at Wall 2 Wall which does Indian Street Food and was very good even though it was extremely busy.

Stourport itself was lovely, lots of little pubs along the canal and the town centre had various little shops and cafes. We were there for 1 night unfortunately, but we couldn't stayed for longer. Will definitely be visiting again, it's very chilled and we had a really lovely feel about it.

Small town on beautiful riverside. Lots of accommodation.

Small town on beautiful riverside. Lots of accommodation. Walks & sporting activities in the countryside. Large supermarkets, &, in the town centre, an interesting music shop with instruments & 2nd hand vinyl records, gift shops, charity shops, restaurants & takeaways. The Civic has regular events. Also pubs with live & recorded music - The Swan has loads of space & seats. Some of it is run down - empty shops, homeless sleep in doorways, the permanent fun fair fixtures looks cheap, old, irrelevant, & tired. Only 1 cashpoint in the very centre, another at the supermarket.

We only stayed one night for a family occasions.

We only stayed one night for a family occasions. However we have previously visited many times as we have family who live locally. As with many towns, it has become run down a bit over the years, but the basin with the narrow boats/locks and river front areas are very pleasant to see. We ate at the Codfather and found it very clean and food was cooked to order to really hot and tasted good.

The Wharf is the best place to stay in Stourport. It's in a great location too. The rooms are spacious and clean. If your staying more than one night there's tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge for any food or drinks you may have The hosts are always friendly and welcoming and answer any questions you may have. We have stayed here before and will definitely stay again.
