Easy to reach by train and for a short break, you don't need a car. Lovely scenery. Everything within a short walk of the beach. Excellent (and difficult) crazy golf! Plenty of shops for basics and also some more quirky ones (especially a shop selling clothes made in India, lovely printed cotton fabrics). Some good places to eat along the seafront. You can take the ferry across the estuary for £2.50 each way (cash). A nice little RNLI shop by the lifeboat station. There are RNLI lifeguards at the beach, and dogs are allowed all year round. The Cliffden Hotel is dog friendly!

Teignmouth is a good central location for visiting Devon, Dartmoor and even Cornwall by train. There is an open air lido, great beach, mini golf, skatepark and children's area but more suited to adults. There is a ferry to take you to Shaldon where there is a small zoo and hidden beach. Shaldon is also accessible by car. Plenty of places to eat (including a Weatherspoons), good parking but limited on street parking.

Lovely old fashioned seaside town, plenty of facilities for families, lots of traditional restaurants and small businesses. No fast food outlets like MacDonald's or large department stores. Quite hilly outside the town centre if walking, but convenient trains and buses are available.

Thoroughly nice compact town with plenty to do all within walking distance. The town centre has enough shops & eateries to satisfy the needs of most. I would recommend Finn McCools chippy, not cheap, but everything cooked fresh and despite the long queues the staff were super efficient and the fare was delicious. Also a shout out to Bocadillos and their really nice baguettes. The Kings Arms sells a couple of exceptionally well kept localish ales at very reasonable prices. The town has a lovely laid back feel but some areas, in common with a few other seaside resorts, look a little tired and could do with a lick of paint. If you are staying in the area and want some peace and tranquility take a walk to Mules Park (quite a steep climb), it is lovely. Plenty of quiet and hidden areas which are well worth exploring. With it being a seaside town there are obviouly a number of water based activities to try.

The hotel is ideally situated for the seafront and flat walks into town. The new owners are busy working away to smarten up the building and what has been done is to a good standard. All credit to them and wishing them every success for the future.
