Grand place in a rather quiet part of the world. Fairly certain I didn't pay for a breakfast but that didn't stop the owner insisting I had one anyway! Lovely people, lovely place. And quiet again considering it was above a pub. Some places seem to nail that, or don't at all. This one gets it right.

Tregaron was a nice little village out in the sticks, we could not get petrol at the time listed on the door of the station in the morning but had enough to get to the local one open near by. My morning walk around the village was short but was as good as l wanted.

Tregaron is a quiet little town in Ceredigion.

Tregaron is a quiet little town in Ceredigion. It is the hub for a large upland agricultural community. There are a few craft shops and a small supermarket. It makes a good base for touring central Wales and the Ceredigion coast. Welsh is widely spoken around Tregaron but many of the residents are bilingual and will happily chat in English - the odd 'diolch' or thank you may receive a smile! The upland areas are rugged but beautiful. Sites like Devils Bridge draw in the tourists as do small coastal towns like Aberaeron and Newquay.

Tregar on is the gateway to one of the most spectacular mountain roads in Wales ,in fact the whole of the UK. It cuts through the Cambrian mountains between Tregaron and Landovery and is out standing. If you're staying at the Talbot hotel take a right out of the rear car park and enjoy, but beware this is an unclassified road which is more suitable for motorbikes than cars.

Tregaron is a small market town, nestled in the foothills of the Cambrian Mountains, making this an ideal location to stop off and enjoy the local walks. The river Brenig flows through the middle of the town, that has several shops, museum and church to visit. There are a few shops doing tea/ coffee/ cake etc. , Butchers, souvenirs etc. A Spar convenience store, and a couple of pubs. Like all country areas, check opening times. Some places can be booked for accommodation.

A Wonderful Stay – Truly a Home Away from Home!

A Wonderful Stay – Truly a Home Away from Home! We’ve just returned from the most delightful stay at this charming holiday cottage, and we couldn’t be happier with our experience. The cottage was beautifully presented—immaculately clean, thoughtfully decorated, and equipped with everything we could possibly need. It offered the perfect blend of comfort and character, with cozy furnishings, a fully stocked kitchen, and lovely touches that made it feel like home. The setting was peaceful and picturesque, ideal for unwinding and enjoying nature. The hosts were fantastic—friendly, responsive, and respectful of our privacy, yet always available if needed. Every detail was clearly well thought out to ensure guests feel welcome and relaxed. We left feeling refreshed and full of great memories. We’re already planning our return visit—highly recommended to anyone looking for a restful and memorable countryside escape!
