This was a lovely place to stay and relax for a day on our travels. Not far from town and large grocery store you quickly feel surrounded by the countryside here. The house had more than enough room for 6 adults. The two recliner couches were so comfy after a long day of driving. The kitchen is stocked with the basic supplies to make dinner and has a washer and dryer. The host was beyond helpful. Especially when the ba I set on my bed leaked an entire water bottle and I needed a complete change of sheets. I like that there are extensions cords next to the bed. If it hadn’t been raining we would have sat outside in the garden. I liked that there was plenty of room to park our rental mini van.

I had the most wonderful time when staying at the Garden Arms Pub and Rooms recently (June 12-13). The owners were friendly and welcoming, the pub was cozy and inviting, the rooms were homey and clean, the bathroom was updated and well-equipped, and I had the whole floor above the pub to myself! I especially enjoyed taking to locals and other visitors in the pub and having breakfast and tea in the sitting room, looking out at the amazing view of the sea. The older building is charming and in a great location to enjoy the village of Gardenstown and walks in the area. They have created a wonderful place there at the Garden Arms and I hope to visit again soon!

I did lots of cycling in the area with a local lad, an old friend, who put together some excellent routes using all kinds of routes away from motor traffic. Lovely farmlands nearby and further away a seascape that was sublime.

Went into Turriff on a number of occasions for groceries or just to look around. We found it a lovely place and very the people very friendly and helpful. There was plenty of car parks which weren't expensive either. Highly recommended trying Pitta's Takeaway there food was excellent, all cooked fresh and reasonably priced to. One night we tried Skipper's for fish, chips and curry sauce, they'd ran out of curry sauce so had what was meant to be mushy peas, but they weren't very mushy. A regular fish was just a little bit bigger then a fish finger and we found it extremely expensive and very disappointing to say the least. We will definitely avoid next time we visit.
