We received a warm, family-like welcome and the hosts had plenty of excellent recommendations. They also offer a unique way to explore the Mount Bromo region that we loved. Thank you so much Rani. The food was delicious and great value. The facilities are brand new, stunning, and set in an unreal natural environment with a cozy, zen vibe. It’s surrounded by fields and mountains. We highly recommend staying more than just for Bromo — 2–3 nights or more if you enjoy peaceful nature, waterfalls and a bit of adventure.

This is the biggest surprise of my Indonesia trip! This place located in a small town near Malang. It runs by a family and Mrs. Mary took 2 of her independent rooms as hotel. There is super nice mountain view and the whole atmosphere is sooo chill. The room is quite big. The host even gave us some passion fruits and papaya grown from their farm. It is not far from Mt. Bromo and Tumpak Sewu - both takes 1.5h to drive there. There are hardly any tourists in this small town and when we were walking to a restaurant, the people were so curious and greeting us friendly, the kids on the street waved to us and say hello. It was such an amazing experience! The sunset of with rice field view in the small town is also really really beautiful. There is also a good and modern restaurant 20 min walk from our stay and it is designed to see the sunset with a big balcony, the food is very nice too

The price was very cheap and we arrived very early in the morning so happy to see that reception was 24h. The staff were nice but difficult to communicate with. Not their fault.

I really enjoyed my stay at HAPPY HOMESTAY. The homestay is located in a quiet residential area. Super safe. the mattress was so comfortable, and the AC worked perfectly. I slept like a baby. I think it is hard to find a better deal in Malang for the price you pay. But most of all HAPPY, her husband TOMY and their little baby girl are the most loving, caring and helpful people ever! They will do anything to make you feel at home! I had a little motorbike accident while in Malang and they did anything they could to make sure I was ok. THANK YOU HAPPY And TOMY

staff/family were so friendly and helpful, food was delicious, and the tours were the BEST. the tours (tumpak sewu waterfall, mount bromo and ijen) are designed well for beating the crowds and getting the best views! i highly recommend booking your accommodation and tours with Vico and his family.

This is the cleanest hostel I’ve ever stayed in! Everything is new and in great shape, and the facilities couldn’t be better. There are two bathrooms/showers and a large area outside the bathrooms where the two sinks and big mirror is. Beds are cozy and have blinds which is always a bonus. There’s seating as well and a huge open space in the room which I loved. There is also a kettle and coffee station which was lovely in the morning! They had a snack bar you could purchase various items from as well. The homemade breakfast in the morning was filling and delicious and lunch/dinner is available for purchase too at a great price. I took advantage of that both evenings and was highly satisfied! There is a balcony attached to the room that is spacious, has a nice seating area, it’s filled with gorgeous plants AND it has an incredible view. In front you can see the street and local houses and to the side you can watch the sunset over the mountains and fields. That was a major highlight for me! Walk out at night too to see the stars and the moon - you won’t get that in the middle of the city :) The hosts are so kind, genuine and helpful! They really went above and beyond with helping me and I’d come back to this place just for them! The motorcycle ride to the hostel from the train station is beautiful as you drive along fields and forests and you feel like you’re away from the city even though you’re still very close. This was a bonus for me! If you wanna be surrounded by some nature and enjoy the quiet evenings, this is the spot! This is the place to stay while in Malang, especially if your main activity is a Mount Bromo tour, it’s on the way and a convenient location for your Jeep driver to pick you up. Stay here!! :)
